Easy setup and works great for my 12ft round pool
My last crystal clear 1500 intex pump just stopped working after 4yrs...was a great pump and after 4yrs of keeping my pool crystal clear I figured it owed me nothing. This new pump has a bit of a different look but pretty much same setup and same filters. Was easy to setup and I'm sure it will do a great job just like last one. FYI I have a 12ft round intex pool that I replace every year...we get so much enjoyment out of it and our fountain keeps it nice and cool in t he Florida heat. Thank you INTEX for all the great products you make for us to enjoy and relax...I also have your Intex Spa which is now 6 yrs old and still works great! :-)

If you have hard water or iron issues BUY THIS works great on small pool
Learn from my mistakes, don't waste all your time & money this summer. Here is how I cleared my brown iron infested pool up in just 3 days! We decided to attempt to set up a pool again this year & I forgot how tedious the whole process is, but this filter ended up being a savior! I decided to start small and ordered the 8ft intex pool from Target (99$) & although it claimed it came with a filter pump it didn't. I figured it was a small pool so I could get away with a small pump so I ordered an off brand 330 pump ($79). We have a septic water system so our water is full of iron thusly when we filled the pool it was super cloudy and murky. I hooked up the small filter and ran it for 10 days straight, cleaning out the cartridge daily and adding chemicals constantly...the water was slightly better but still very cloudy and brown (see 1st picture) and the iron particles that would settle on the bottom were too fine to vaccum up. After doing some research & reading a ton of reviews I decided to buy this filter. I knew from the reviews I needed to buy the adapters since I have a smaller pool, I got them for $16 here on Amazon. I read the gasket is not necessary & since it was a $60+ part I decided to hold off on that. While it works great without it it enables you to turn the water flow off for pump maintenance so it is helpful, I think eventually I will be getting one. The adapters are 100% necessary as the fittings are larger than the pool. So the filter & adapters came in just 2 days. It was super easy to install, took me like 30 minutes to do myself. If you're like me and super new to pools intex has some videos on YouTube that help a lot! I will admit the dual suction threw me off since the smaller filter only had 1 intake 1 output. Initially I installed it backwards & had 2 output hoses and 1 intake hose. The next day I realized my mistake and switched the hoses to 2 intake and 1 output. But, it still worked well that first night, that's how amazing this filter is. Being that my pool is so small this filter is super powerful!! The suction power is amazing & the output comes out like a hot tub. That old small pump didn't even move the water around, this one actually circulates it. If you're like me and have hard water or iron issues Google "pool sock method". I filled socks with pillow stuffing and zip tied them to the output hose than rinsed them clean a few times a day. The helped to collect those tiny stubborn iron particles. After the 1st night of running this filter the water was 80% clear (see 2nd picture). I was pleasantly surprised!! I continued using the pool socks and shocked the water the next day & it was 90% clear (see 3rd picture). After a few days of maintenance, chemicals and the occasional vaccum (I have one of those cheap pool vacs that hook up to a garden hose), I went outside to find the water 100% crystal clear!!!!! Literally all the iron particles GONE!!! Since it was super hot here last week the water feels amazing!! I feel like I finally conquered my greatest challenge yet...the brown pool water, and I owe it all to this filter!!! Yes it was a little more than I initially wanted to spend for a little pool, but it was SO worth it! I wish someone would have told me that before I wasted money on a subpar filter & weeks of having a brown pool no one could swim in!! Now that I have this amazing filter and know it works so well I plan on upgrading to the 12ft poolnext year... I just have to level out the ground better... (if you haven't put your pool up yet, LEVEL THE GROUND 1ST it really matters). But for now we are LOVING our little pool paradise. So if you have a small pump the upgrade is 1000% WORTH IT!

No issues
This worked great. We used it to convert a 6’ stock tank into a hot tub.

Good value at 150 gallons per hour
Product listing claimed 1500 gallons per hour and that was too good to be true for the price. Not seeing any where near 1500 gallons per hour. More like 150 gallons per hour. So that gets 4 stars. It’s been running since 10 am to 3pm to empty 1500 gallons of a dirty spa, and at 3pm still has 750 gallons to go. 1500 - 750 = 750. 750 / 5 = 150 gallons per hourThat’s actually ok. I bought it to use as a spa vac, and the suction is excellent. For the price paid this is superb. The only real down side is that if the product is above the pool, you will need to prime the pump. I used a garden hose from a water tap. Primed in under a minute. The hoses work fine with standard pool vac hoses after wrapping 2 layers of duct tape.Other reviews saying the pump is loud are incorrect. This thing is quiet. I mean come on, it is a 150 gallon per hour pump.Setup was dirt simple. It is light as a feather.Over all, for the price paid, I am happy. If lasts a year I will be delirious.

Decent pump while it lasted - junk hoses
Lasted a week or so. Then the GFCI said "EOL" with lights flashing and no way to clear it. 95F weather so sorry there's no moisture involved here. I could theoretically cut the GFCI off but I have no guarantee it wasn't the pump motor simply shorting itself out somehow. When it ran, it did decently. The hoses however are stupid garbage. The nuts are oversized and do not fit any of my adapters. It threads on and hangs on for dear life and with water pressure they just pop off. Other adapters thread on just fine. I used a bunch of teflon tape to marginal success. Just ended up adapting to my other pool hoses and would've thrown away these hoses if I didn't return this product.

Buy this now! So much better than the less powerful model!
We bought this because our filter stopped working for our 10 ft pool.Pros:This filter is much more powerful than the cheaper Intex.Set up was easy and quick. Our water was turning a funny color, we used a small amount of chemicals and 30 minutes later, our pool was no longer green! The pool pictured looked like it was full of Mountain Dew 30 minutes ago.It filters so quickly! It’s not too large and more sleek than our previous filter.I would absolutely buy this over the less powerful model.Cons:Check the hose size and make sure you buy the adapter hose, if you need it. Buy it on Amazon now because the home stores won’t have it in stock and you don’t want to wait to have your pool clean again! We didn’t realize this used a different hose size than our previous, less powerful Intex filter.

So far so good
So far so good. Pay attention, it does not come with a strainer valve. I thought it did. My mistake.

The "Binford" of small pool pumps.
i hooked this pump up to a 12 foot pool and turned over water in a fraction of the time as the cheapo pump that came with the pool packaged deal. still uses A type filters (easy and cheap to get) and set the timer for minimum (2 hours) and it got the job done. pump is rated for larger pools but such a tremendous step up from those small, wanna be pumps that come with the package deal. save yourself some hassle, extra labor and money and buy a good pump ahead of time and save the play pump for a back up (hopefully never needed). pump is fairly quiet when running, timer actually works, and i've been operating daily since purchase with no problems. i still have to figure out my ROI (electricity use + filters) but the outcome of the pool being W-A-Y cleaner - no comparison!!...that alone makes it worth it to me.10/1/11 - time to put pool away for the year and happy to report good ROI as the efficiency saved me approx. $9/month. i could figure this out because i have one of the new digital electric meters and i get a monthly usage report which shows daily electricity use hour by hour and since i have the timer set, which will always stay the same unless you unplug the pump or change the timer, it was easy to compare the usage. also, the A type filters purchased in a 6 pack from Amazon are durable enough to wash out and soak in a mild bleach solution and sun dry so that they can be used at least twice and sometimes 3 times, so if i had purchased earlier in the season, it would have paid itself off in one season, but as it were, will pay itself off definitely next year, and again, pool stays way cleaner, less sediment to vacuum and i found that i needed to use l/ss chlorine, so really, if i were to factor that cost in, maybe it really did pay for itself in one season. anyway, i really like the pump and would have no problem recommending it to others.4/29/12 Back up and running without a hitch! Sure cleans the pool nicely. Still Lov'n It!!10/29/12 Time to put away again and still STRONG as ever and will hook'er up again next season ~ Word ~ the stinking hoses are what wear out first! Huh? Send me your fixes please...thanks, marc

Great value
Got it for a great price. Work great. Time feature is not programmable, set on 24 hour period, so if you set it at 4Pm for 6 hours it will turn on every day at 4 pm or until you turn it on again in which that will become the new start time. I like it in the morning, but the kids like it running when they are in it so it flucuates alot. Can't really take advantage of off peak electricity billing, but it has great power and works great with the vacuum we bought to go with it.
