Helpful intermediate USB power toggle
In case anyone is confused what this is for, I figured I would go ahead and leave a review. If you have a USB powered device that is always on when plugged in, you can use this to add a manual on/off switch for the power. Plug this in between the power source (whether that be an outlet or another USB cable), and the device itself, and then you can flip the switch one way to interrupt the power going to the device (turning it off), or flip the switch the other way and allow the power to go to the device (turning it on). This can be handy if your device doesn't have a power switch, or if you otherwise need to control power to the device more manually. In my case, I have a USB powered lamp that has an on/off switch that is difficult for me to reach in normal usage. So now I have the lamp attached to a USB extension cable, with this cable in between the extension cable and the lamp itself. Leaving the lamp's switch in the "on" position, I can now turn it on and off via the switch on this cable instead, which is right at my fingertips. So if you're looking to do something like that, this cable is perfect! As for a review of the specific product itself, there's not too much to say - it does exactly as it says. The plugs are good quality, not too tight or too loose, and the switch itself is sturdy, but easy to press, so no headaches there. It just works. And, as of this writing, you get 2 for $6, which is pretty cool. If I had to say a negative, it would be that the cable is short, but it's meant to be an intermediate cable, so that's to be expected. If you need something longer, I would pair this with a cheap USB extension cable. Also, an important thing to note about this cable - it is strictly for POWER. Data does not transfer through it - only power. So please be aware of that when purchasing - if you need data, this isn't what you need.

Works great!
Amazing product! Adding these switches to devices you would ordinarily have to unplug to turn off, adds luxury and convenience for an affordable price point.

Good for switching power, not for data devices (as stated), wish it had a flat back.
Pros: - does what it says. Connects/disconnects a USB device. Suitable for small USB-powered devices, as long as they don't need to be seen by the computer. As described in the text, t does not pass data, so it is not suitable for webcams and such. Cons: - for no good reason I can see, the back of the case is curved. If you're OK with the cable is hanging loose behind your computer, monitor, or sliding around on the desk, that's probably fine. I prefer to fix my switch down with velcro or double-faced tape, so that it's always in the same place on the back of my monitor. Then I can operate it without having to be able to see it. The curved back on this switch means there's very little surface that actually comes in contact with anything you might want to stick it to. I realize this is something of a matter of personal preference. If there was an obvious need for the curve, I wouldn't ding them a star. As is, it seems to be sacrificing functionality for style.

Power Switch ONLY, NO data lines
Reading the comments before buying this I realized that a lot of reviewers didn't understand what this was or how it worked. I hope to explain what this does and doesn't do so you can buy the right thing for you. A USB connector has 4 contacts, which are connected to 4 wires. 2 of those wires provide power to the device. And 2 of those wires transmit data. You can actually buy special adapters which do not have data lines to protect your phone when charging from a public (untrusted) power source. Hackers can use those to attack your phone. This switch does NOT have data lines. You cannot use it to transfer any information. This is ONLY useful for transmitting power. The switch turns the power on and off by disconnecting one of the power lines. I am using it with a USB powered LED strip and it works great for that. But if you were trying to use it with a Webcam, for example it will not work. It doesn't have any data lines to transmit information. Power ONLY. It works great for my application and I like that I can use it to protect my phone from untrusted power sources as well.

Great Idea!
I love this concept! I use a rechargeable lamp on my deck table at my off-grid cabin. But it is getting to be summer and the mosquitos are getting active. I have a few USB mosquito repeller and they work pretty good. But once you plug them in, they stay on constantly. The chemical pad that you insert only last for 4 hours or so, and it doesn't fit into the recessed USB power bank built into the lamp. So I was looking for a short USB extension when I found this. I used some double sided tape to attach the repeller to the top of the lamp and I can just use the switch in the extension to turn it off or on without unplugging anything. It works great! I will be using the second one for a USB fan that I have in the cabin near my bed.

this device works fine so far. but…
it works just as i’d hoped. but there are some odd design choices that make it less than ideal. 1: the switch box itself doesn’t lay flat. it’s curved upwards for some reason on the underside - so it doesn’t sit flat on any surface giving it a wobble. plus if you planned on affixing it to a wall or desk with two sided mounting tape - it won’t stick properly because that requires a flat surface. if this is something you planned on doing, i’d look for one that has a flat bottom instead. 2: it also has very very short cords…so I had to also get a usb extension cord so i could plug into wall outlet. i think it was designed to be plugged into a laptop or docking station - definitely needs other elements to make it convenient. it’s just one piece in a multi part solution.

Power on/off Only
If all you want to do is turn power on or off then it works just fine, but it is a bit deceiving because if you put it in the middle of a USB line, and it is in the on position, you would think that it would allow everything through, but it definitely does not. It ONLY lets the power through. It will not work for something like a switch for a speaker connected by USB. For example if you have 2 or more speakers and/or a headphone and want to use one of these to control on/off for each one, you can not. I was expecting that if it was in the on position that it would be just like a direct connection without the switch but it is not. I think it should be the way I expected because the price was enough to expect it to be that way. Who would want a switch in the on position to only let through some of the USB connections. I am sure the difference in cost to build is négligeable. I hope I made my point clear. The good news is that it is solidly built.
