Definitely works more efficiently than silica gel/packets! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Moisture Absorption for Filament Storage *by on Reviewed in the United States February 14, 2026* I’ve been very impressed with the Slice Engineering 2lb Activated Alumina Desiccant. It arrived quickly and the container makes it easy to pour and refill smaller holders without making a mess.Compared to orange indicating silica gel, this absorbs more moisture and seems to last longer before needing to be recharged. The tradeoff is that it does not change color, so you will want to monitor humidity levels with a hygrometer rather than relying on visual indication.I use this in 3D printed spool desiccant containers and in my AMS desiccant holders, and it has worked extremely well. Humidity stays low and filament performance has been consistent.To recharge, I dry it in my AMS HT using a high temperature safe container at full temperature for a couple of hours, and it is ready to go again.
