Miele Complete C3 Calima Bagged Canister Vacuum Cleaner with Turbobrush floorhead, Suitable for Low-Medium Pile Carpet and Hard Floors, in Curry Yellow

This is a review of the Miele C3 Calima. Quick take... pricey but a good vacuum for a smaller apartment. The added maneuverability of the smaller brush heads makes it more user-friendly for vacuuming the whole apartment. More fun than sweeping. I typically purchase upright vacuums of the less expensive variety. Like sub $100 hoover types. My previous hoover was recommended by Consumer Reports, but I never liked it very much because vacuuming the medium pile wall-to-wall carpet in my son's bedroom was difficult with it. The height adjustment didn't go high enough to avoid the "sucked to the carpet" effect, which made it very hard to push while vacuuming. After many years of dealing with it I finally decided to upgrade. I live in a 1000 sq ft apartment with a mix of flooring, some hardwood, some wall-to-wall carpet, area rugs, and tile. I have 2 rooms with wall-to-wall carpet, one low pile and one medium pile. I debated between going for a model with an electronic brush head for several hundred dollars more, or this one, which has the vacuum powered (non-electric) turbo brush head. I'm happy I decided to go with the Calima. The turbo brush head works well on bare flooring, as does the hardwood floor attachment. The turbo brush does a good job on the low pile carpet, the area rugs, and actually pretty good on the medium pile too. I think the Turbo brush is a good solution a small apartment without a lot of medium pile or thicker carpeting. It's more maneuverable than the larger bulkier electronic brushes that come with the more expensive models. Overall I really like this thing. I find myself using it to clean all my floors, hardwood, carpet and area rugs, and the tile in the bathrooms. It's really easy to maneuver around with the smaller brush heads, and I can vacuum my whole place in less than 10 minutes. I never would have used my old upright vacuum to vacuum the non-carpeted rooms of the house, it was too clunky. I find myself reaching for this more often than the broom for the bare floors. The automatic cord retractor and the accessory compartment are great. And I dig that it has hepa filtering, to help with my allergies. Of course the elephant in the room when talking about a vacuum like this is the price. At over 900 dollars after tax it's waaay more expensive than many of the other options, even other vacuums that have more fancy features than this one. But the way I see it it's an investment. Hopefully this is the last vacuum cleaner I ever have to buy.

Love this Miele vacuum! In short: IT WORKS!! And the color is a bonus. I also have a basic Miele (C-1) canister that i purchased a few years ago and thought it was ok, but not as good as expected! This one WORKS! I got tired of emptying dirt canisters of bagless vacuums( Dyson, Shark) these Miele bags keep the dirt contained and easy to dispose of! It is pricey for sure. But now I don't mind vacuuming!

I. LOVE. THIS. VACUUM. I had my eye on this vacuum for several years before finally splurging and buying it for myself. I loved it from the first time I used it and it’s going strong over the last 3 months of weekly use. I have environmental sensitivities, and this vacuum is rated very highly in terms of how well sealed it is and how it does not redisperse any particles back into the air. Pros: relatively quiet, considering how powerful it is. The casters are really smooth and it's easy to pull around. I appreciate the variety of different brush heads and the cute storage compartment. I also really like how you can store the wand upright when the vacuum is out. Cons: It’s pricey! And replacement bags and filters are also not cheap. It is worth it to me, though, knowing that it is keeping the air in my home cleaner. I also feel like the slot to store the wand upright is not very secure. I feel like that that part will break down at some point. I also wish that the cord retractor was slower. It retracts alarmingly fast! Overall, I really love this vacuum. Is it perfect? No. But it is certainly good/satisfying to use, and I feel like it was money well spent.

I had high hopes for the Miele Complete C3 Calima, especially given the price and Miele’s reputation, but this has been the worst vacuum cleaner I’ve owned for carpeted surfaces. On hardwood floors, it performs well. Suction is strong, and it handles debris effectively. However, if you have low-pile carpet, don’t expect much — it barely picks up dirt. On medium-pile carpet, performance is even worse. What makes this especially frustrating is that strong suction alone doesn’t matter if the vacuum head isn’t actually lifting dirt from the carpet. In my experience, this vacuum simply does not clean carpet effectively. I also found that it is not compatible with the Miele Original SEB 236 Electro Premium motorized floorhead, which might have improved carpet performance. That limitation was disappointing and makes this model feel even less versatile. For the price, I expected a vacuum that could handle multiple surfaces well. Instead, this feels like an expensive machine that only works properly on hardwood floors. If your home has carpeting, even just door mats, I strongly recommend considering another model. Had I known how poorly it would perform on carpet, I would not have purchased it. I genuinely wish I could return it.

Oh my goodness, this vacuum is fantastic! It really sucks, and it does so incredibly quietly so housecleaning is not an irritatingly noisy chore for the user or the rest of the household. It was expensive, but happiness is priceless. I just bought a second one, with more brushes, for my daughter’s family.

Received our Curry Yellow C3 Complete today and took it for a full-on test run. We have always owned and used upright vacuums to varying degrees of satisfaction. 80% of our vacuum needs have always been for carpeting and not much has been said about how well Miele vacuums actually preform on carpeting, but I went with my gut instinct and purchased our first canister type machine. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! It pulls debris and long embedded dust like a champ. I looked in the bag after the first use and was stunned at what our other vacuum had been leaving behind. To be fair..the old Eureka was heavy, noisy and seemed to fling dirt ahead of itself, and I had reached my limit with it. Yes, the Miele is spendy, but after just one use I don’t care because it was money well spent. The beater brush head is smaller than a conventional upright and at first I thought it would be a drawback adding extra work. But as it turns out it is lighter and far more maneuverable than an upright and is actually faster as you are not constantly going over the same area trying to pick up those elusive little bits. The smaller width of the head allows the user to clean those narrow areas that uprights just can’t squeeze into. And suction?? Well let’s just say that it has all the suction you could ever ask for and I needed to dial it down for the carpeting. Have not tried it on stairs or smooth floors yet, but already know it will preform above expectations. Just a great purchase that is light and powerful with any attachments included that we will ever need. Not sorry at all about spending $799.00 because quality always pays for itself in the end.

It took be quite a while to pull the trigger on spending this much on a vacuum. I finally did, and I have mixed reviews. Yes it is very sturdy, very light weight and has some very good selling points. However, it works differently than anything else I have owned. I have had this about 6 months and it is a very good vacuum. Would have given more stars but it really isn't that good on hard floors which I have a lot of and not good for pet hair. Not saying don't buy this....because it is really a nice machine, just think about it before you spend this much money on a vacuum. I wanted to make sure I gave it a good chance before I made a review and here are my points. 1. It is good on carpet. I have a carpet attachment that I use, and it really does a good job on the carpet. It will however get clogged very easily, and if you have pets that leave hair everywhere....not good for this vacuum. You can't take off the bottom to remove any build up on the brush so that is a pain. And it will often mean I have to stop and clean it when there is a lot of pet hair. and if the carpet it too thick, the brush make get stuck. 2. Hardwood floor - I have a lot of those in my home. This does have a hard floor cleaner and the ability to change the suction because it will take more on the hard floor. Again, if you have pets that leave hair, this is not a good item. I have a German Shepard and a couple of cats and they all leave hair everywhere. You have to sweep it all up first, and not vacuum it. Also, the hair when vacuuming gets all over the inside of the canister, and clogs the filter really quickly. I have to change the filter before use each time I do it. and you need their filters. they aren't expensive but if you don't have them, you'll need to order. I just keep some on hand. Also, you need to have the suction opening right over the area you are cleaning (if that makes sense). I often can't pick up particles because it just scoots them around and unless I pick up the hose and place it directly on top of the debris it is hard to pick up. 3. Getting the bag in correctly. You would think this would be easy and common sense. I have used bagged vacuums before, didn't need a degree for it. I have had this now for about 6 months, and still have issues with getting the connection to the bag, I usually takes me 2 or 3 times to get it in correctly. You will lose all suction if it isn't in right so check that. Sometimes it has to do with closing the top or the way the bag holder is in. 4. There is a HEPA filter at the top that I have noticed doesn't lock in place, it just sits there so when you turn it one it just flops around in there. Crazy...but it loses suction a lot with this and if I take it out, then I don't have a suction issue but it will blow dust everywhere...and I mean everywhere. So if you live on a gravel road in the country, you know there is a lot of dust. If you took the time to read all of this I hope it helped. This is a good vacuum just for certain applications. Not heavy dirt, dust, pet hair build up, this is for the city home or apartment that has little traffic or definitely no pets. You will love how it moves around, light weight, and convent it is. I am taking this to a vacuum repair center to make sure I am doing everything correctly which not sure how else to do it. But I clean it out after each use, to make sure there isn't pet hair build up, clean out the filters.

Ok, after owning a whining, loud Kenmore Progressive for 16 years that is louder then a jet taking off, I finally decided to upgrade. I went to my local vac store where the only man working didn't really seem interested in the fact that I was ready to buy one of these puppies, that day. Brick & mortar. What can I say. I watch a couple reviews on the net and after thinking it over a few days, pulled the trigger & ordered one. Amazons price was very reasonable. They put spinner wheels on this, so it slips & slides every which way, just like a piece of luggage. I like the feature. The motor is very quiet in the lower suction range and the suction power even in quiet mode is impressive, in part no doubt to the new bag in it. Put it on a higher suction mode to work the carpet attachment. Figure out which one works best for you depending on pile height. An electric one would be much better, but that would create the need for electric wiring on the hose. I only have two area rugs, the rest of my house is hardwood. The floor brush is about 12'' wide and allows you to really cover floor area in a hurry. I think the loudest noise comes from the suction at the floor brush. Accessory tools are very easy to interchange, just listen for the 'click'. Picture shows the floor & carpet attachement where they attach on the vacuum, the rest are under a little door. I do wish there was an on/off switch on the handle, but again, that would require electric wiring on the hose. So foot switch it is. I find myself supporting my self with the wand/hose to keep from falling over, as you have to raise your foot about 7'' to touch the switch. The cord rewind is the same way, hold on to something. But I am elderly so I try & be extra careful. A younger person may not have that issue. I know the more expensive models come with an electric carpet attachment, but decided I dint need one, so i saved a few hundred $$. The 4 stars are only because of the carpet attachment, otherwise, 5 it would be. I would definitely recommend.
