She Made a Monster: How Mary Shelley Created Frankenstein

My students were fascinated with this book. They had a lot of questions about the author and the story. They did an extension learning activity where they made up their own monsters and described them. Great book.

I gave this book to nieces and a grand child. My five year old grandchild could not connect with it, yet. But the older cousins loved the book, especially the woman creator. Fabulous

I love this book. It is such a great concept. I plan on reading this to my sixth graders next years and challenge them to come up with similar book ideas.

We enjoyed the beautiful writing and romantically eerie illustrations.

Gorgeous illustration and great story! Author did a fantastic job. Definitely a 6-10 reading level.

Beautifully illustrated version of the story. My fiance has a real fascination for Mary Shelley and this made for a wonderful addition to his collection.

Io l’ho trovato veramente interessante e ben fatto. Mio figlio di 5 anni si è molto interessato, anche se poi è rimasto male perché effettivamente la storia di Frankenstein nel libro... non c’è (è la storia di come M Shelley abbia avuto l’intuizione di scrivere Frankenstein). Poco male perché abbiamo subito ordinato una versione di Frankenstein per bimbi, che stiamo leggendo ora, soprattutto perché volevo che non passasse l’idea mostro = cattivo.Illustrazioni curate, Il piccolo di due anni se n’è innamorato, mentre il grande ha paura di una pagina in cui si intravede la mano di Frankenstein, quindi non vuole più aprire il libro...Metto comunque cinque stellette perché è una storia molto interessante, ben adattata ed illustrata, anche se forse da leggere con bimbi un po’ più grandi dei miei.
