Treadle Sewing Machines: Clean and Use an Iron Lady Paperback – April 4, 2018

It's well written and very easy to understand and the information given helps keep her running smoothly and that is the part I'm excited about, pictures, diagrams. I have loved mine for years but never worked with it and now I am, the first thing I sew will be making 2 burial shrouds, one for him and for me. That should be easy because I Haven't sewn in years, so that project sounds simple enough 🤔 But if your old lady is just sitting around, buy the book read through it and start preparing her for her job, my Grandma used it for years making clothes for all the boys and 4 girls there was 12 of them, so she had to sew using pretty flour sack for dresses, tops and boys shirts and everyone's underwear. These machinery were work horses and they still are with some loving care. I'm purchasing new belts to replace the old one that replaced 30 yrs ago. It's stiff, but still works, but it is time for an upgrade. I'd happily purchase again and I highly recommend it.

This little brown book is packed full of great information. There are plenty of drawings and photos. I have No previous experience with treadle machines, and with the help of this book, I have restored 4 machines to good working order. The machines range in age from 1903 to 1927. I really feel successful! I highly recommend this book. I purchased other books but returned them. This is a complete resource.

Bought this book as a reference while restoring my first non-electric machine, a 1923 Singer Sphinx treadle vibrating shuttle on its original base. Excellent resource material if you're familiar with older Singer products, but are new to the unique intricacies of working with and fixing treadle machines. Book helped me to get my machine reconditioned, threaded, and running. Has legible schematics and clear, concise instructions.
