I believe they are laboratory grown. Not from seeds, And not wild harvested.

Would it be easy to transfer to a pot? I would prefer it not on a hanging medium....

Yes, but this plant need to be upward, needs a lots of humidity, I has my lay on the side of a glass bowl and cover with plastic wrap with hole. need to water every other day.

What does it smell like?

I took a sniff at mine this evening and it's a little lemony, but not quite like a real lemon. More like a lemon-scented wet-wipe. I keep mine under a glass dome for humidity so I can't tell if you'd be able to smell it from far away. The strength might also depend on the time of day because I swear it didn't smell like much when I checked the other morning.
