Excited.. then not too excited.
Reason for purchase:I bought this the same day I bought my Timbuk2 Snoop messenger bag (medium) - (which didn't come with the camera insert). Originally I thought it would fit the Timbuk2 from the review Michael (for the orange one) did saying it fits his medium timbuk2 perfectly. Though when I put it in mine, there was way too much empty space all around in the bag, that the BBP camera insert would lightly tumble around in the bag.I'm not giving it 3 stars because it didn't 'fit' the Timbuk2, it was just an observation for other people who are considering this option. However I put this insert in my Stussy messenger bag and it fit much more snugly.. (so I'll probably buy the Timbuk2 insert afterall).Reason for rating:- The padding isn't very.. 'padded' per se. Of course there's padding, but I don't think it's enough to protect a DSLR.- Also, I was getting pretty worked up trying to create my "custom fit" because the velcro would immediately grab onto the felt the moment you try to adjust it. But after pulling the velcro off a couple of times, the felt-y part would get really weak making the center pads have a weak hold.- The insert claims to be able to hold a DSLR and a couple of lenses, but the problem is.. it's not the right size for a DSLR camera. You can't put it vertically because the camera is too wide, but you can't put it horizontally because the camera's too flat (so it moves around). *also, if you put the camera horizontally, it leaves you very little room to fit more than one lens in there*- Last but not least.. This one made me very dissatisfied. The insert didn't have a zipper or anything to close the top flap. I know it's used to protect your camera in certain bags, but things in the insert can easily slip out when the top flap isn't held down. (especially with such a loose fit on your DSLR)- and an additional pointer, the top area supposedly for your memory cards is also very loose. memory cards can easily slip out when the flap is down on either side of the insert.3 stars for the possibility that their item is perfect for their company's bags, but it's definitely not for any other brand.

Not as padded or firm as expected, but still works well
I thought this would be sturdy and thick padding. Instead it is pretty thin, so there's not a huge amount of protection. It also means the lid flops over instead of flipping over, if you imagine the difference between those two words. On the plus side it means you can compact it in your bag when you remove your camera. On the con side, it means it may collapse when you remove your camera, hindering "re-holstering".Although it's not as good as I hoped, it is still very useful (and cheap compared to other camera bags). I throw this in a messenger bag and it makes a great, light, inconspicuous camera bag. I highly recommend this over most overpriced commercial camera bags. The only caveat being if you need a sturdier insert, get one.

Perfect insert - after some alterations
I bought two of these to use in a newly purchased Opteka 900 soft-sided camera bag. My goal was to find a Domke-like bag to carry a D600 with a Nikkor 70-200 attached, along with several other lenses. I needed a day working pack that could accomodate the camera and 70-200 lens horizontally - I'm odd, I don't like to store my camera in the working bag vertically - I prefer it to be horizontal. I think it balances better and is more secure, and I feel it is more stable to carry. I initially wanted the Domke F-2, because it's such an iconic bag, and I love my other two Domke bags - F-1 and F-6. But, none of the Domke inserts sounded like they would work for my desired set up. So, I looked for alternative inserts and found these. Then I decided, since I'm already substituting for Domke, why not try the Opteka for half the price. So, I ended up with these and the Opteka. The problem was, these inserts were too tall for the Opketa - same problem as with the Domke. But, I cut the excess off of the top with scissors, and covered the cut edge with duct tape. Viola! as the French say! They fit perfectly inside the Opteka and the D600 and 70-200 fit perfectly in the horizontal position. It takes up an entire insert, but I still have the second one to store 3 or 4 other lenses if I choose. If anyone is searching for such a set up as a working bag, I can recommend these inserts with either the Domke or Opteka bags.

BBP DLSR camera insert
I purchased this insert to keep from having to buy an expensive messenger camera bag. I already had a bag that I carried on a daily basis, but it was not designed to hold a camera. This insert works very well and has plenty of room for my camera, and several accessories (lenses, flash, batteries and charger.)Be warned though, this is a very cheap solution. You get what you pay for. I only had mine a few weeks and noticed that the thing was tearing apart. I do use my camera a lot and am taking it in and out of the bag a lot, so if this is what you will be doing, I do not recommend this product

Good product but too small for my DSLR
Bought the olive camera insert. Well padded and great color. Fits perfectly in my messenger bag and even some of my larger purses. NIKON D3s won't fit in this insert unless you remove the lens as mentioned in other review. If that doesn't bother you, this product would be great for you!

Good Solution to Protect Camera Gear
I was looking for a relatively inexpensive alternative to purchasing a single-purpose bag for digital SLR camera gear, and I think this insert fits the bill. It will hold an SLR body and two lenses plus other smaller items like a battery charger and spare battery. If you travel with more than two lenses, this insert bag will likely not work for you. And, because this is an insert bag you need some type of carry-on bag to insert it into. I think the dimensions of this insert bag will work in many standard carry-on bags. It fits perfectly in the one shoulder carry-on I have.
