Holds heat great! Good battery life for me
Updated review in 2026: Just shy of a year of purchase, I started having trouble with my cup. The lights would just flash and turn off instead of staying on and keeping warm. It didn’t work if my cup was full, and the battery was fully charged. I contacted the company here through Amazon (I couldn’t find any other way on any other site or email). After some troubleshooting back and forth, they sent me a whole new mug that is working perfectly. I’m not sure what will happen if this one also fails. But I’m glad to have a replacement at no extra cost. That’s good customer service! Also an update on my replacement lid from the 2025 review—that lid also broke eventually. I have a new lid on the new mug and we’ll see how long it lasts. It appears to be the same one. Original review in 2025: I love love love my mug! I’ve owned it for about 7 months now and I use it daily all day long. I put it on the charger at night and it lasts me on low for the whole next day until about 5-6pm. The low setting is perfect for my coffee, personally. I do mew the lid on full time and I think that helps with temp control and battery longevity. My mom has the same mug and she keeps the lid off. Her battery lasts less time and she has to keep it on the medium setting. So if you’re having less performance than you’d like, try keeping the lid on. I like the purple color the most, though I would have preferred green or blue. However, I don’t like the “dusty” shade look of the colors. The touch buttons are perfect I think because they are actual buttons you have to push yet there aren’t any cracks for liquid to get inside. I don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting a touch screen button either. I only have two small complaints: 1) The lid broke the first time I tried to remove the black slider to clean it. Now it’s too loose and the slides closed on me when I try to drink. I ordered a replacement lid and it’s been ok so far, a few cleanings in, but it’s loosening as well and sometimes slides closed on me. I’m not keen on buying another lid that is both difficult to clean AND prone to breaking. 2) The wide shape of the cup means it doesn’t fit in any of the car cup holders. I’ve taken it in the car on many occasions and I have to set it inside my console, where it has spilled a time or two. It does fit inside my mom’s Honda pilot cup holders, however. Overall, I still absolutely love this cup and it has been a game changer for actually finishing a cup of coffee before it gets cold! Perfect for a busy homeschooling mom of 3. Best Mother’s Day gift ever!

Fantastic Mug!
I wanted to give this mug a fair shot before writing a review—several uses in, and I can confidently say it’s a winner. This temperature control mug does exactly what it claims to do: it keeps coffee hot (not just warm) from the first sip to nearly the last. The mug is easy to use, with one intuitive button and a clear indicator light showing three heat settings: warm, hot, and “piping.” I prefer my coffee piping, and the high setting keeps it at just the right temperature for me. Battery life has been solid—up to 2.5 hours as advertised—and the five blue indicator lights make it easy to track remaining charge. Of course, using the higher heat setting drains the battery a bit faster, but that’s expected. One standout feature is the included charging base. When I’m at my desk, I keep the mug on the base while sipping, which helps preserve battery life. The base has two raised contact points that align with the inset conductor rings on the mug's bottom, so there’s nothing to plug in—just set it down and go. Simple and effective. There’s also an auto-off feature that detects when the mug is empty. While I haven’t tested it deliberately, I’ve noticed the last sip is sometimes cooler, which makes me think the mug powers down before it’s completely empty—a smart safety feature, especially if you’re forgetful or distracted (no one wants melted plastic or worse!). The mug holds a standard 8-ounce pour comfortably, even with room for cream—though I drink mine black and untainted. It also does a great job maintaining heat even without the lid, though I imagine it retains heat even better with it on. Bottom line: this mug offers excellent usability and functionality at a significantly lower price point than some of the better-known competitors. If anything changes down the road, I’ll update my review—but as of now, this is a fantastic value and a great buy.

Clear lid burned by hot beverage = BPA in my drink...skip this, it's not worth it.
I like this cup because it does keep my coffee and tea hot...albeit at the highest setting. My definition of hot is the same as how the coffee comes out of the carafe, freshly made as well as the hot water for my tea. That temp is the same as the highest setting. It also helps to keep it hot with the lid that comes with it. Speaking of the lid, my concern is how it "burns". If you put a hairdryer on high and put it close to plastic, it will warp it and if it doesn't, it will definitely burn it. You will see the surface scar with burn bumps, if you will. That means the plastic is not high temp safe = plastic in your hot cup of coffee or tea. This explains the taste I had on my first night with hot tea. It tasted funny and I played it off as it's first burn. This morning I clean the lid after my coffee and notice the part of the lid is still clear, but the other side and middle has scuff marks because it's no longer clear, but cloudy. I can feel a texture that the clear side does not have and that is clearly plastic burning from the heat. I included two pictures to show the new "frosted" look of the lid. The darker one has a clear area that you may see the texture of the tray that it is on. I took a third picture where you can see through the lid in that same area to the mousepad underneath, while the other areas are burned or scarred. Please note that this lid used to be clear and see through. I will not be using this lid and may send this entire thing back because that is not good at all. That is low quality plastic that I most likely ingested while drinking my hot beverage. The bottom of the cup also shows some anomaly that shouldn't be there, almost as if it was also burned. In the picture, the bottom of the cup has a new texture that wasn't there before. I checked this cup to see if there were anything odd about it as a new cup and there was nothing to note. The bottom of the cup was as smooth as the sides of the bottom are. Note that the center of the bottom is thinner than the other area. You can push down and feel it give. Tap the middle, then tap the sides of the bottom and you can hear a hollow sound in the middle and you can hear it become more solid and sturdy closer towards the sides. The paint and how it is applied may not be as quality as it looks. I'm returning this. I have other metal mugs with clear plastic lids that have not done this in the years that I have had them. Enter this item and the lid burns along with the paint on the bottom of the cup where the heating element is.

Keeps Coffee Hot for Hours, Goldilocks approved
The KEPWAM 16oz Smart Heated Coffee Mug does a great job of keeping a hot cup of coffee at your desired heat level for several hours. With three temperature settings to choose from (warm – 113°F, hot – 131°F, and piping – 149°F), one is bound to be “just right” for you (not too hot, not too cool)! The cup itself is very attractive and there are several color options available. Again, you should be able to find a color that is “just right” for your taste. I have found the battery life ample to get me through my morning routine, with the cup maintaining the mid-level temperature for about 4 hours on a full charge. There is also an option to keep the cup on the charger plate while in use, which will keep the charge all day long. Of course, that defeats the “portability” benefit of a self-powered heated cup. I have been using a warming plate for years, but have had to sacrifice the ability to take my coffee with me to another room and keep it hot. So, whether you use the portability feature or fixed charger plate option, one is bound to be “just right” for you! They do list the “capacity” as 16 oz. While this is, technically, a true statement, 16oz fills the cup to the very tip-top of lip (see photo). Of course, a cup this full cannot be moved without spillage, so the “usable” capacity is more in the 14 oz. range. Also, they similarly list the capacity as 14 oz with the lid attached. Again, this is an overflow level. The “usable” capacity with the lid is more like 13 oz. (see photo). Other key things to note: the cup cannot be put into a microwave oven, nor can it go into the dishwasher (hand wash only, I wouldn’t recommend submerging, although a quick dip in soapy water and a gentle rinse should be OK). Even though it comes with a lid for travel, note that this cup most likely will not fit into a car’s standard cup holder. The handle is such that the cup cannot nestle down inside the cup holder. But for moving from room to room, the lid can be a handy plus for this cup. Overall, this is a great cup that does keep a beverage at a good drinking temperature for several hours. 5 STARS AND I DO RECOMMEND THIS ITEM I write honest reviews based on real life experience with each item to help others make informed purchases. I read reviews too, and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that you find this review helpful!

Good value and well made.
I had this in the more expensive version/brand and loved the mug. I used it everyday, and when it finally bit the dust, I needed a replacement. I chose this one because of the larger size to add my creamer. It is pretty much the same as the more expensive brand in the way it works. It is easy to charge on the little coaster and works well. The difference is that this one does not heat as warm. The lowest setting on the old one is a little warmer than the medium setting on this one. Now to be fair, this larger new mug has a lid and maybe if I used the lid I would get a different result. But it still is good for my use. If you like your coffee pipping hot, this might not be the mug for you. I have been using it on the hot setting and it is a little hot for me, but I would not call it pipping. The other difference is that I have to adjust the setting each time. My old one just remembered my preference. Is this a big problem? nope. I read that this mug can only be washed out and not submerged into water. I did submerged the old one about once a week or so and maybe that was why it only lasted 2 years. (although there were no restrictions on hand washing) So for the money difference, I feel this is a good value. There are some small differences, but nothing that warrants the money for the more expensive brand. The mug holds it's charge for a while. Sometimes while working I sip slowly and the coffee cools pretty fast. My old mug did shut off after about 45 minutes. Not this one. It stays hot for a long time. I haven't had it shut off yet. The mug looks very nice. It is well made, a good weight and holds the large size coffee pod setting with tons of cream. That is a win in my book.

It's a No Brainer
This mug outdoes the Nextmug and Ember cups. No app is needed. Keeps coffee hot (with lid) for a good hour and a half off of charge. If kept on the charger, hot til you drop, with or without lid. Haven't had the pins break as was easily done with the Ember cups. The Nextmug stopped charging within a few months. There are three settings for heat and there is a difference with each one. Different colors/sizes available. The cost of this mug is much lower than the other two and I have found the Kepwam to be of a better and consistent quality.

I love my kepwam mug
This is my new favorite work mug. I’ve had it for over a month a it doesn’t disappoint. I even had a brand new Smrtmugg that crapped out on me with 3 days of use. The Smrtmugg only had 1 heat setting also. This mug was built well, doesn’t feel or look cheap and has 3 heat settings. I’ve experimented with how well it works. I used piping hot coffee, placed on highest setting on a full charge, without the base and it lasted 2.5-3 hours before dropping one light of charging. It has a total of 5 lights for fully charged. The coffee stayed hot the whole time. I dropped it to medium heat, it was a comfortable temperature for drinking, then I put it back to piping hot, which is my favorite setting. Next, I tried instant coffee. I used room temp water, left the mug on the charger and it takes about an hour, give or take, for the water to become hot enough to dissolve the powder properly. I say this because, I tried to dissolve the powder in cold water…not good. After the powder was dissolved, I threw the top back on and waited a bit longer for piping hot coffee. I also noticed that when there’s a very small amount of liquid at the bottom, it turns itself off. It won’t do that if there’s more than that in the mug. I haven’t fully tested that theory out yet, but I’m guessing if liquid isn’t covering the raised portion at the bottom, then it shuts off, which is great for me. The Smrtmugg would shut off whenever it felt like it, even when turning it back on. I would highly recommend getting this product. There’s no modifying the pins on the base. Wipe it clean with a damp rag. Treat it like you’re drinking from your most favorite mug, but it’s electric and more awesome. A little extra stuff. The cord is a long, nice length, unlike the crappy Smrtmugg cord. Yes, Smrtmugg is the villain in my review. This mug keeps your coffee flavor good, as if you just poured it. It doesn’t burn it and it holds a decent amount. I can now sip my coffee for hours or less and not have to worry about cold coffee.

Works Very Well - Could Use Some Small Changes - Issue with charging base
** Edit 4/20/26: Use the mug pretty much every day. Heat water, add it to the mug and then steep some tea. Now, the underside does get a little wet from time to time and each time I pout water into it, I wipe down the bottom. Despite that, I recently had this happen to the base. This does not instill confidence in it's design. Even the bottom of the base deformed ever so slightly. Been using the mug for about a week so I can't speak for longevity (sometimes cheaper items look great but then just stop working after a short time). The entire mug does feel premium (except see below). I also really like that you can turn it on and set it on the charger and it would stay hot all day. However, you can even just pick it up and the internal battery will continue to keep your beverage hot. So you could have it at your desk and just take it into a meeting and it would stay hot all of the time. There are 3 heat settings. I leave mine on the highest and my tea stays just the right temp... hot but just under being too hot (plenty hot?). I took one star off mainly just for 3 design issues I think could be better: The handle is a little thin so it does not feel great. It works and is not bad but if it were a little thicker it would feel better. The other issue is the color of the interior. It should be white or at least a much lighter color. I drink tea and I think it is more of an issue for tea drinking. You cannot see the darkness of the brew because the interior is too dark. They also don't make a white colored mug and this would solve that issue. The last issue is a bit bigger (pun intended). I bought the 12 ounce mug. Now it will hold 12 ounces but only if you fill it to the very top and then the lid cannot be used. So I'd say it is not really 12 ounces more like 10-11.
