A fabulous journal which I purchased as a present. Comes in a presentation box making it a lovely gift. The recipient was very pleased with it, it is very good quality and has a very useful back page pocket.

It started off so innocently: I needed a gift for a person who (I thought) would enjoy a teal-coloured notebook of this kind, and I bought it. When the notebook arrived, I was about to put it straight into the gift bag, but a little voice in my head said, you have never bought from this company before -- have a quick glance at the notebook before packing it into the gift bag. And thank goodness I did. When I opened the outer white cardboard box, inside it were odd grey-coloured splotches, somewhat similar to splatters of oil (see pictures). I realised at one that I'd have to buy another gift, so I opened the inner wrapping to have a look at the notebook itself. It's pleasant but doesn't feel like a premium product, so keep it in mind if you do brave giving it as a gift. Who knows after all, maybe the rest of them are fine, and I simply got a dud. Then I thought, now that I'm stuck with this notebook, let me try out some gel pens in it and see how it fares in terms of bleed-through and ghosting. I did, and its performance was EXCELLENT! Even the 0.7 mm Energel pens were only faintly visible on the other side of the page. As for the 0.5 mm Energel, Muji and Sarasa Clip, these were completely invisible. In terms of laying flat, the notebook also did well, with only minor persuasion on my part. Not like a Midori, but not like a Black & Red either, which fought back with all its might. In summary... This isn't a bad notebook at all. Just be cautious when buying it as a gift in a situation where the embarrassment can't be simply laughed off. UPDATE: Two things happened today. One, the pink version of the same notebook turned up today (I bought 2 more after the story with the teal one because they are such good notebooks). There were no splotches in the box, which tells me that the splotches in the teal and red one are just a fluke. Two, Beechmore wrote to offer me a refund of the teal notebook and apologised for the teal notebook saga with the gift and all that. I think this is a good company that produces excellent notebooks. I personally find Beechmore notebooks superior to Avocado & Spice in terms of laying flat, as well as Beechmore A6 being a bit wider than A&S, which for me is a positive. Previously I gave the teal notebook 2 stars, but in retrospect I think Beechmore deserves a better rating, so I have adjusted my assessment accordingly. I personally intend to continue buying 120gsm A6 notebooks from them.

Paper is a great thickness and lovely to write on. I also love that the pages are perforated so that they can be torn out, if needed. Ideal for taking notes and looks fantastic. Worth the extra money for something that feels so lovely to use.

Absolutely incredible service. Ordered pm on one day and arrived before noon the next day. Importantly left in exactly the place I had specified on the order form. I was also kept abreast of the delivery update by constants emails. It makes a beautiful gift with wonderful package; i love the sturdy box, with no dented corners, tissue paper and a great note. It is stylish and smart and would work for either men or women. It has the feel and sense of a luxury item but at an affordable price. Absolutely love it and will be buying more. And the best part is that the quality of paper is such that it passes the writing test ie. you can write in a fountain pen and the ink does not show. So, very good quality paper and super smooth to write on. If there is a downside it is the colour of the leather. This is highly personal but I am not keen on brown leather. And actually, don't have any brown shoes, or handbags etc so it is definitely a personal foible. Looking forward to the exact same product but in colours. I will be buying more as gifts.

This is second one of these journals I've had and I like them a lot. The item is beautifully packaged and very well made, I write in it using a variety of ink pens and the heavy weight paper is really good because even the wet inks do not soak through. Will get another one when I have filled this on.
