3 years later.... (Links to replacement parts at the end!)
This little thing is awesome, especially at this price point! The replacement parts and occasional maintenance are well worth it. I *DO* replace the filters, gasket, bio-balls (switching to Aquaneat ceramic this year), and light bulb every year, and *DO NOT* run it in the freezing months. When I put it out the second spring, I didn't realize the bulb was dead, but putting in a new one fixed the problem instantly! It seems like the UV bulb does as much work as the filters, if not more. This little gadget does such a great job of keeping the pond clear that we only need to use algae killer once or twice a season, if that. It DOES need to be cleaned often (daily when it's extra sunny and hot), but the fish poo and algae are amazing fertilizer! I just dump the green goo in the garden, hose off the filters, and pop it back together. Sometimes the gasket ring is a little annoying to put back on and the clips don't want to stay latched, but that's more a problem of physics and water pressure than product design. It DOES leak occasionally when the latches aren't clipped correctly, but I have it set on a ramp so the water can flow back to the pond instead of into the ground. (Not buried... that part makes no sense to me since I have to bring it in during winter. I just cover it with a reflective bag when it's crazy hot.) Usually popping it apart and putting the gasket back on straight is all it takes to stop the leak. The cord is extra-long so we can plug it in to a power strip in the shed along with the pump and everything else we need for long summer days. I just noticed that the price has dropped about $30 since I bought mine... I might order a backup at this price, even though I'm pretty sure I won't need it for at least a couple more years! (Unless we do get around to enlarging the pond, in which case I'll happily run 2!) Our fish, frogs, and I 100% recommend this filtration system, but only to anyone WILLING and ABLE to maintain it properly! The majority of negative reviews seem to be from people who expected a maintenance-free miracle. Sorry friends, but that's not how aquatic systems work... however, I promise the reward of a thriving little ecosystem in your yard is worth the effort! PARTS LIST/ LINKS: *FILTERS: Replace annually. Jebao brand, exact fit. I hate how brittle the blue one feels after a couple months, but it still works perfectly. (It doesn't break or flake or anything, it just feels weird when I'm cleaning it.) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OS92DI6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 *GASKET RING: Replace every year, or maybe every 2 years in cooler climates. This is a bit thicker than the one that comes with the original product, and might require a bit of stretching and shoving the lid down to fit at first. Just use it like an exercise band for a couple minutes on a warm day and wiggle the lid til it fits! An extra set of strong hands helps when pushing the lid down to clamp the latches. It will fit better as it warms and stretches over time. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CTT2JVI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 *13W UV BULB: Replace as needed. (about annually for us) You should be able to see the light in the little window if it's working. 3 pack is worth it, especially if you're running it 24/7. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EIXHEGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 *PLASTIC BIO-BALLS: Replace annually or bi-annually, depending on your algae growth. You should only need about half of these at a time, and I HIGHLY recommend leaving them in the bag for easier cleaning. (I made the mistake of stealing the mesh bags for delicate laundry items, LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES! Or not, both are good, actually. Just depends on if you'd rather have 'free' laundry bags for your bras or chase little plastic balls all over your yard. *shrug*) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MYW94XB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 *CERAMIC RING FILTER MEDIA: Again, this is about 2x what you need to fill the lower reservoir, and I recommend leaving them in the bag for easier cleanup. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet because our pump died right after I got them so I can't 100% say they're better or worse than the plastic ones. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07233FQ9P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 *WATER CLARIFIER/ ALGAE KILLER: There are thousands of brands out there, but I can personally testify that this one is 100% safe for fish, frogs, and other wildlife when used properly. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! (Mix a capful into a gallon of pond water and STIR WELL as you dump it in slowly. A strong hose and an extra set of hands are very helpful.) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D0Y9RG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 *HAPPINESS: Link yourself to a lovely little ecosystem in your own back yard!

Horrible Design
The filter is absolute worst. Like many have mentioned and I wish I would've read more closely, it's nearly impossible to re-seal it after opening. It ran alright for a month or so, did well with the algae, but not great on clearing up sludge. So, rather than just continually backflushing, I took it apart for a cleaning. The filter will not re-seal. The o-ring will not stay in place and the clamps are not strong enough. I have had other biological filters with a similar set-up. I was so frustrated that I ordered a replacement o-ring, figuring the original had been stretched out after less than 2 months of use. The new o-ring stays in place but the clamps do not correctly seal the pump and it leaks...a lot. Terrible design, I can't recommend to anyone, and now I'm out $100 on a new filter.

Extremely effective, great price, simple to install!
Got the 13 watt version of this and installed it on a 350 gallon IBC tank based system last night and my water was finally clear enough for the first time that I could see clear to the bottom of the tank. As with all Jebao products, their instructions are limited and contain broken English. However, considering that this isn't a high-tech product and the unit itself is clearly labeled, anybody can install it correctly without even needing instructions. Even though it will work with tubing down to 1/2", you really need at least 1" between your pump and the input connection and preferably as well on your output. As the product name says, this is a pressure filter, you won't be able to deliver enough pressure to force your water through it if you are using small diameter tubing. Cleaning is a breeze, just press the gray lever over to the "clean" position to back-flush it until the water runs clear coming out of it. Then press the other gray level to put it back into operation mode.

Watch the seals carefully
Why did you pick this product vs others?: All in all, I think it’s a good product. The UV is fixed every problem that I have. It was a little leaky at First so I only have it set up so I can dismantle it if I need to as I’m still in the testing phase, but generally, I think it works pretty well. The seals can be a little tricky, and the buckles that hold the lid on like to pop off on their own, I’m assuming from pressure within the canister so it needs to be checked periodically but I like the product so far. UV is exactly what I needed to clear up my algae blooms and now my pond is crystal clear.

Otherwise very happy and replaced with same unit since it was affordable
We have used 2-3 of these units over many years for our pond. UV Light works very well to keep pond clear. Only concern is that the fittings for the hoses can become brittle and break or leak after years in the elements. Otherwise very happy and replaced with same unit since it was affordable. Easy to clean (if you don't mind the smell) pads on regular basis.

Works great out of the box. But wait...
Out of the box this filter works great, it clears the water within the first hour. We are running a 300gph pump with this. Our water was very cloudy and we had tried many things with no help. We only have a 300 gal Pond, well 2 of them, we liked this so well we bought a second one for the other pond. within 24 hours we could see clearly in both ponds. back flushing seemed to work ok, ive never seen any system so far back flush perfect. it only lasted about a month and the indicator showed it needed done again. so we decided to clean the filters as the first time it showed needed cleaning was nearly 3 months, now it only went 1 month. the large main "O" ring was such a pain to get resealed, it leaked no matter what we tried. a little water running down we thought was no big deal as we worked on it for 3 hours. again it indicated that a cleaning was needed in 1 month, we toke it apart and realized it didnt seem that dirty, putting it back together one of the clamps broke off. she thought it was something she did so we bought another one to replace. we have had the same problems with the other 2, in fact one of the plastic clamps broke off during the night while it was running, emptying the pond and killing fish for lack of air. The other main pain with this pump is getting the bio balls in correctly to get it to seat properly. but works great out of the box. but all down hill from there i'm afraid. one of the filters we had to unscrew the indicator to clean it as it wouldn't go back down to show clean, and it leaked from that point on, yes there "O" ring was there and i even used plumbers tape to try and get it to seal with no luck.

Cheap leaky garbage
Wish I could give this 0 stars. The filter works great until it decides to leak, which it will. This is pretty devastating when you have a pond full of fish and plants dry up. Also don't forget the 1000 gallons of water that was nice and contained is now destroying whatever is around it, which in my case was the side of my pond and deck.. I have learned a few lessons, one of which is never to buy this brand of crap again. Another is do yourself a favor and either have your pump high enough in the water that you cannot pump out all your water or get a float switch. I did notice a few times like another reviewer stated that after pressure was let off, either by turning your pump off or your electric goes off, that this was all but guaranteed to leak once the pump was turned back on and the filter had pressure again. I gave this filter multiple chances, tried to make provisions to prevent further leaking, but after my last power outage and the destruction this last failure has caused, I felt it necessary to warn others and never use this filter again

6 Years and it's still good and not leaking
I didn't expect this filter to hold up but so far, the clips have not failed and it does not leak. To clean the sponges, I actually open the filter, remove the sponges and manually hose them off and squeeze out the sludge. This is a hassle but is effective and doesn't risk leaks from the backwash mechanism. Honestly, I expected this pressure filter might experience some failure so I put it inside a large ceramic urn which would return water to my pond if the filter leaked. 6th season now and my distrust has not been justified. I should note that I also have Jebao, 36 watt stainless UV-C filter, LED pond lights and a couple of their pumps. All these Jebao products have been both well made and well priced!

Finally clear pond water!
Works fabulously and was very easy to install. Designed to be installed below ground if you want low profile. Cleared the murky water up in days. Only concern is I cannot budge the clean out lever but have not had to clean it yet so time will tell if this is a problem. I hooked it up to the waterfall unit I ordered here and that works great and the fish love to play in the water fall.

Works as advertised!
When I ordered this filter my pond was a dark green and I couldn't see the bottom of my pool. With in 2 weeks my pond was perfectly clear. Don't expect it to clear your pond in a couple of days give it time to work. Love the discharge for cleaning the filter also. Would definitely recommend this product. PS. My fittings did not leak as stated by other reviews.

Design Disaster
Every time you clean the filter the O ring falls off, and it is frustrating and time consuming to put it on, and what is worse there is no reason for it to come off, it could be permanent, but it is like the engineers couldn't figure out how to do it and left it the consumer. Once the O ring is on, to close the top so the clamps will close takes the weight of two people, and sometimes a hammer. Once in operation it does seem to work, but it is so badly designed I am going to look for a similar but better designed product.

Steadily holding my 120 Gallon koi pond
*Brilliant replacement that works very well with any pumping system, *If you managed to open this device before use or during washing it, It's O-RING must be placed on the "lid" (the upper cover of this device) as as indicated with a red circle on my second review photo here. If O-RING is improperly placed, your filter will leak like other users reviews, *It comes with a pre-installed UV light for algae treatment, great value for this functionality, *Device is very easy to clean, and it fits into smaller spaces.
