North Spore Blue Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit, Organic, Spray & Grow, 4 lbs

Great mushrooms. They sprout with in a few weeks. Very tasty growing your own mushrooms

I ordered one block from Amazon (Blue Oyster) and another (Italian Oyster) with their grow kit directly from their site. The Italian Oyster grew with in a week and made 1.5lbs of mushrooms. A 2nd flush never happened. Its been about 4 weeks now. However, The blue Oysters ordered from Amazon never grew. I am very disappointment and felt this was a waste of money. While they are fun to grow, it is not cost effective when blocks fail. In the long run it might be cheaper to just buy gourmet mushrooms from a local farmers market. At our local market they sell for between 12-25 bucks a lb.

First time experiencing growing mushrooms!!! It started to sprouts exactly 2 weeks. I love it! And watching it grow! Will buy again. Update 10/8: So it’s been almost 3 month since I got the mushrooms kit. Thru those time I harvest it 3 times, only the 1st round have more mushroom sprouting. There were 2 other times that the mushrooms were having hard times growing n it went dead, then I realized my house is too dry to the point I almost threw the kit in the trash having no more hope. But I gave it one last chance to see if it’s still grow outdoor during fall season. Instead of just putting the block outside, I broken in half, smash them in 2 jug(1 clear, 1 milk jug) on top of some garden soil with dried grass on top and watered to see if that work. I left it outside in a shaded spot didn’t check for a week until now n amazing!!! It’s still growing, even better!! Got pictures too.

Review Update below original review: So I received my kit on October 24 and read the instructions and started it the same day. So far I’ve done everything that it said to do and absolutely nothing has happened and today is November 5th. I’m so disappoint because I was so excited to grow my own mushrooms. I haven’t given up yet and will continue to do what I’ve been doing but so far I’m very disappointed 😞 Ok so after weeks of spraying the thing for weeks and nothing happening I took it upon myself to put water in the bottom of a container and sat the block in box on top of a bowl so it wouldn’t get wet. I made a humidity tent over the whole thing and misted the inside of the plastic at least twice a day and lo and behold after a week or 2 it started to grow!!!! I’ve never been so excited about a fungus in all my life!! lol I feel like this idea should maybe be written in their instructions as a trouble shooting kinda thing if you’re not getting any growth!! But anyway I’m thrilled to see them growing finally!!!

Got three flushes and still going strong. After two flushes on one side, I soaked it in water overnight and cut an X on the opposite side for the third flush.

When the company Ì had been buying my blocks from went out of business Ì decided to try North Spore. I immediately put the block in my smart box grow unit. By the 3rd day I noticed fungus gnats!! So disappointing. I put a small dish of vinegar solution in the unit and it does look like the block may pin but we’ll see. Update; black mold developed and block tossed. Would not order again.

Ordered this as a gift for someone who wanted to try growing their own food. The mushrooms grew quickly and worked well. The only thing I wished they added was more education material on why you do what you do as we learned for some you have to break it down or they just run with their own ideas of how it works.

Has a very foul smell and a lot of gnats…when I googled if this was normal, Google said no…I’ve only had it 3 days…followed the instructions… I’m very disappointed…I was so excited about growing my own mushrooms…I will not be buying from this company again…I also read this isn’t how it was supposed to look…The MFG Date says 7/03….I received the Kit September 21th, Today is the 24th…it’s almost 3 months old, this can’t be right!
