Will shade from sun, but don't count on the cord lasting long.
After unpacking from it's flattened form, the hat shapes OK with a little manipulation. Not so good is the chin cord, which is not very solidly sewn into the inner band of the hat with a single line of stitching - some of the photos show the cord feeding through the brim with eyelets, but this was not the case with my hat. The chin cord was a big reason I purchased the hat, to keep the it on in windy conditions at the beach and boating, but it does not look like it will last long, since it is secured only by a single line of stitching. Unlike the dark-colored cord shown in the pictures, the cord is actually a very light color (similar to string), which does not complement the dark color of the hat band and looks cheap. The straw hat itself does look like it will do a decent job of protecting from the sun.

Good Deal !
Florida sun hat for working in the yard mostly. Last straw hat from Walmart was over $25 & this actually seems nicer. Hopefully it holds up well. Its comfortable and fits the average American male, like me ! Has a wire inside the outer rim to shape it and a liner band so its not scratchy on the head/face. Two weeks delivery, a bit slow.

amazing Value for quality packable sun hat
I don’t know what these other reviewers are talking about. At $12.50 this is an amazing sun hat. The brim has a wire and so you can mold it how you want it to look. It comes packed flat like you would for luggage, and can then be flipped out and molded to your featured contour. Great for travel. Yes itmay take a minute or two of fiddling with it but this is a great deal and seems of good quality so far. Highly recommend. The brim is wider than other hats I’ve looked at, offering more protection which is a plus.
