Great pen
It was a gift for my mother, she hadn't had a fountain pen since she was a young girl in the 1950s. Great design, works great, etc. If I could suggest a design change, maybe have the cap screw on and off. The is the one part my mother had problem with. She is 85 yrs old and trying to pull the cap off for the first time was hard. It is just a suggestion. Otherwise everything was perfect!!PS. I pulled the cap off several times and I think it made it come off a little more easier.

Where is the nib???
When I first ordered this pen, I received it in a broken box, missing the nib. I assumed it was a previously ordered and returned product. I returned it and ordered another pen, which is also MISSING the nib!? (However this box wasn’t broken) I’m so confused with this pen. I have deconstructed the pen and reassembled it, but I am still not seeing the writing tip. That was a disappointing waste of time.

great pen for the price!
I kept getting Dryden pen sponsored ads on every page when I was looking for a specific type of fountain pen. Once I got my Waterman, I decided to splurge on a little extra EDC (every day carry, heh) pen. The first under $20 pen I purchased was a <mumblemumblemumble> that worked so poorly that the company has offered to send me a new one, so I was hesitant to try again. But, just as I was looking at the Dryden, a lightning deal came up so it was only $20, so I pulled the trigger on it.I'm so glad I did! Right out of the box, the ink flow was easy, even, and a perfect medium. (well, as close to perfect that I could tell without getting out my calipers.)Body is pleasantly heavy, and the color of the blue! Wow! Very shiny and luscious. The body shape is a nice taper, and not one of those super-fat bodies that are a bit uncomfortable (for me) to work with. The section housing the nib is metal as well, so no worries about it cracking. The lid snaps on.ink flow is a little "wet" at times, usually when I am writing slowly, but there are no stutters or uneven starts/finishes, and you don't have to find the "sweet spot" on the nib to get a good ink flow, like some I have had.All in all, this is a satisfying and pretty pen, that i can take to work and not be too fuzzed up if it "walks away" with someone.I would definitely buy this as a gift for someone.

Rediscovering fountain pens
I haven't used a fountain pen since I was a kid. A friend suggested I give them another try, and I'm glad he did. I bought two beginner pens to try things out first before investing in a more expensive pen. The first pen I tried was the Scribe Sword, and I did not care for that pen at all. It was slow to get going each day and did not deliver ink well. Luckily, I bought a Dryden Modern Classic at the same time. The difference between the two pens is remarkable. Not only does the Dryden write much better, but I also find it more pleasing and substantial to hold. I recommend the Dryden Modern Classic, and the mysterious blue -- reminds me of peacock blue -- is beautiful and unique.
