1/4 Pound Stratified American Ginseng Seed

These were amazing, but we didn't plant right away unfortunately. We did get some planted and they are growing. Would love to order more as soon as they are available. Next time we will be ready! Potting in planters.

Seed arrived via USPS, they appear to be good quality, mature seeds ready to plant. Planted the day after delivery, time will tell how well they germinate. From appearance and float test, well over 95% should be viable. Quite pleased with timely delivery and apparent quality of seed stock.

Not a single seed sprouted for me

Seeds arrived on time and as described with excellent instructions which I followed exactly, so I really hope they grow well.Addendum to review: These seeds grew really well compared to others I have purchased. Over 90% germination for seeds planted in large pots and probably 30% for seeds planted in plots in woods and left to nature. I highly recomend this seller!

Revised:I have many sprouting from the batch I bought in February 2023!!! I am transplanting them to woodsy soil indoors for now, to ensure that they are doing well before I move them out to my woods.—————I bought in October 2020 and planted in my woods in Virginia (a perfect location) right away. I have checked back occasionally, and nothing seems to have come up. I followed the instructions, and even used a planting device to push the seeds into the ground under the leaves.There is no sign that deer have eaten them, although I know that there are some deer in that woods.Not if I did something wrong, or if it’s just bad luck.May try again, but it’s a lot of money and a lot of work.

Product as described

I purchased these in hopes of introducing American Ginseng to our wooded property, but I won't be planting until next month so I don't have much to say yet. As I understand it Ginseng is finicky to grow and has lower germination rates to begin with (a Purdue University Extension Service article cited 70%). However, I'm expecting my germination rates to be even lower. I know there's only so much that a seller can do to protect seeds in transit, but when I received my seeds the package was physically hot and there was a considerable amount of condensation inside the inner package. I ordered seeds in the heat of August so I'm not sure what I expected. Ginseng is a long-term, multi-year project but I'll update this review if applicable.

Seeds were in good condition, from now on I will order and plant in the fall. I will have wait until next year for results.
