## Questions & Answers

**Q: How does this camera do in low light with ISO? My Nikon D3000 starts seeing noise in the dark at about 400, how much better is this camera?**
A: It does a fantastic job! I went from a D3100, and like you found noise at low levels (800+). I own the D7100 now and greatly enjoy its performance at ISO 4000 and below. Also, the grain that you see at higher ISO is also dependent on you nailing the proper exposure. The better you nail it, the less noise you see in higher ISOs. Also the more light there is the less grain you will see at higher ISOs. Here is an example of an image I shot in a dark room @ ISO 4000 with the D7100 https://plus.google.com/104259763574908799227/posts/AbRQMh5uX1N

**Q: Is this camera too much for a beginner/first DSLR purchase? Considered the 5200/5300 but someone recommended this model instead. Toughts?**
A: Yes and No.Yes, it is an overkill for a beginner who may not sustain his interest and go further. It is an overkill because of its bells and whistles e.g bracketing shots functions, time lapse, multiple exposures photography ,in camera HDR etc.It will be too much a camera for a beginner whose foray into photography may be short-lived , but who can predict that?.Better to spend less $ on a D5XXX or D3XXX series. If you buy a less expensive model however it will cost you more down the road if you decide to continue with photography and later go for an upgrade later with a D7XXX series. No, it is not an overkill for a beginner who loves photography and wants to go as far as his/her imagination will go....it is the best way to go for a beginner who is determined and self motivated to go far either as a hobbist or professional. You will have an excellent camera to grow with. You may not have to buy another crop camera so soon as an upgrade, which in the long term will be cost effective. You will now spend time and money to invest in excellent lenses as you get more gear.Your long term endeavor into photography will depend not on your camera BUT on your imagination, patience, appreciation of the beauty around you, desire to record that beauty, self motivation to keep your interest in photography going and a source of income, of course, if you decide to go professional. The answer depends on how long you think you will like photography.Do you want to create good photographs or do you want to take good snap shots? I know a guy who bought a Canon 1DX because he thought the more expensive the camera he had, the better a photographer he will be.He was proved wrong. He sold his Canon 1DX 3 months later substantially less than what he had bought it for.Even with a low shutter count of less than 2000 at the time of sale, he sold it less.He lost interest in photography and reverted to using his iPhone to taking very good pictures! This guy certainly was content with and interested in taking good snap shots and did not have the patience for creating good pictures .Both are part of the art of photography. What do you see yourself doing? Taking good snap shots or creating good pictures. If you want to take good snap shots, you do not need Nikon D7100, you have less expensive alternatives to D7100.in his book "Mastering the Nikon D7100" Darrel Young described the D7100 as "Nikon D7100 is the ultimate advanced -enthusiast DX camera"... the key words are "advanced enthusiast" and not "beginner".I hope this helps. Good luck!

**Q: I want to upgrade from a D3300. Will my Lens be compatible?**
A: Yes, all lenses you did use on D3300 will work on D7100.

**Q: Anyone use the 64GB memory cards? Any issues? I use the 32GB cards with my D7000...**
A: You could use whatever size you would like but 32gb can hold 2-3k photos...I run to 32gb, one for photos and other is dedicated for video. Works well
