ASICSMen's NOVABLAST 5 Running Shoes

Daily trainer?
I’ve wanting to try the Novablast since version 3. I am glad to finally pulled the trigger. So far I have put on a little over 20 miles on this pair. First, these shoes seems true to size compared with most of my shoe rotation. The heel collar is nicely padded and the tongue is minimal but doesn’t create pressure on the top of the foot. The toe box is roomy with the upper material having some flexibility and fairly breathable. I am a little confused where to use this in my shoe rotation. I have a long run shoe (Saucony Triumph) and shoes for fast workouts (Saucony Speed 2). The Novablast 5 can take the place of both shoes but probably doesn’t give you quite the speed as the Speed 2. It definitely feels well cushioned and quite bouncy. The midsole has the tallest stack height I own measuring 41.5 mm. I think this can be a great all around shoes if you’re only looking for 1 pair of running shoes. I would definitely bring this on a trip because it would be great for walking and also doing a few moderately paced runs. I’m planning to use Novablast for tempo day workouts and maybe some longer runs just to protect the legs from getting too beaten up. I also own 2 pairs of carbon shoes (Nike Vaporfly and Saucony Pro) that I only use for running events. I think the Novablast 5 will suit a lot of runners due to the stability and being fairly lightweight. This shoes is also a great deal too in my opinion. A max cushion shoes usually runs in the $160 range and uptempo shoes will set you back about $170. Overall I’m happy with this purchase and think most people will be too!

Great workout shoes!
These are really good walking/jogging/running shoes. I started really getting active this year but my knees didn't like it much. I'm 45, 6'1", ~180, male, and regular everyday sneakers just didn't cut it. These are really padded, I usually do about 4 miles 4-5 times per week, and after switching to these, my knees and lower back are much happier. Can't go wrong with these, and the price is reasonable for the support these give.

A very decent cushioned shoe
My first Asics in many years. Fast walker now as I approach 70 with chronic plantar fasciitis. I found that I can use these without my Scholl insert. The heel is very well cushioned. Not much material on top but very easy to find a good fit. The shoelaces stay tied even without double knots. The site wants me to buy one size smaller but I found the hard way that I have to oversize, otherwise I keep losing the toenail of my middle toe. I would not call them inexpensive, but I admit I have not looked into carbon plates and such.

Superb for specific type of runner
61 year old long-time runner, 5'11", 165 lbs. Only one run, 5 miles at 8:00 pace - easily the best first-run experience I've had in my 49 years of running. Heel strikers might find the heel too squishy, but it feels perfect for mid-sole strikers like me. Probably not great for pronators, but excellent for supination. Extremely comfortable, bouncy and fun. Cannot recommend enough.

One of my best shoes
Correct fit out of the box. No insole needed. Noticeably better shoe than my Brooks Cloud Max. Lighter and softer with better responsiveness. Almost makes me want to buy 2 pair! Only 20 miles so far but a great feel!

they are just ok
I waited quite a while to write the review on these so I could experience everything about them first. I was quite worried about the wet weather traction. So many people rated them poorly there. I found them to be fine. They weren't slippery like others said. I definitely wouldn't say it was good traction, just ok. They do return some energy, not as springy as made out to be. They are very light which is what I probably like best about them but I wonder if that weight was in place of tongue support. I feel like the tongue goes all over the place and I really have to take care to get it in the right spot as I lace up. Like others have said, the tongue/toe box bunches up when you pull the laces snug. I don't have narrow or wide feet so I expected this not to be an issue. I was also concerned about the durability but so far they look very good. I have almost 200 miles on them (I trade off with another pair of shoes) and they're hardly showing wear. Overall though, I don't think they feel very supportive and I probably won't buy these again.

A great running shoe! This is coming from a newbie runner!
This shoe is incredible! It's light weight and has great bounce. I love the color and the fit was just right. I was unsure what shoe to get since I've recently started to run and I have been thrilled with this shoe!
