Works on a 1997 f250 hd 7.3L tailgate
This worked on my 1997 f250 hd 7.3L tailgate. It would be helpful if the dimensions were listed of the opening for the rod. Much googling later and I figured out this would fit. The clam shell design makes it hard to get the rod installed on a tailgate. I had to install the clip and then push the plastic open to slide the rod into place as there isn't enough room to clam shell the rod and then push the clip into place. Once installed the locking clip easly rotated onto the rod.

These fit my 1986 Toyota 4x4 pickup
I was a little worried when I tried to install the first one ... it seemed like it was a bit big for the hole and I thought I might have to file it down. But I played around with it and eventually found the right orientation to get it started in the hole and then it slid right in. The hardest part of the process turns out to be getting the old spacers out.
