A sub-£100 budget champion that sounds deceptively large and refined
Purchased for an office desktop setup, the Micca MB42X G2 have proven to be an absolute triumph for the price. Do not be fooled by their unassuming looks; while they look like a very standard, generic black box similar to many other budget options, they perform on a completely different level. In my opinion, these stand out instantly because they sound significantly bigger than they actually are. They deliver plenty of punchy bass, a wonderfully present midrange, and a beautifully balanced treble response. The high end rolls off perfectly, meaning you can listen to them for hours in a near-field desktop environment without experiencing any ear fatigue. I drove these using a Douk Audio A5 amplifier paired with Micca oxygen-free copper speaker cables. Those cables are honestly all the speaker wire you will ever need—they have a great quality feel, deliver great sound, and pairing them with these speakers ensures you won't be disappointed. I achieved the best results by placing the speakers on compact stands right at the edge of my desk to save space. However, if stands are not an option, I highly recommend purchasing a small set of rubber isolation feet or pads. These speakers absolutely benefit from being decoupled from flat surfaces to prevent unwanted vibrations and offer their absolute best performance. What makes these speakers so special is that despite the budget price point, the manufacturer has clearly put a massive amount of thought into their engineering. This "G2" version features a completely redesigned, upgraded crossover network that smoothly blends the frequencies between the drivers. This thoughtful internal design drastically reduces distortion and cleans up the presentation, making the speakers sound much more expensive than they actually are. The resulting stereo performance is genuinely impressive for a budget box. When listening to Billie Eilish’s “Chihiro,” there was a surprising amount of low-end extension for a cabinet of this size. The imaging was sharper than expected; her vocals locked dead-center in the middle of the presentation, and all the micro-details of the track came through crystal clear without ever sounding muddy or congested. For under £100 when I purchased them, I could not be happier with the value they offer. If you are setting up a desktop audio system on a strict budget, the Micca MB42X G2 should absolutely be at the top of your shortlist.

Happy bunny
I bought these to connect to my kind of minimalist (but much loved) audio setup: Hi-Fi Walker H2 player, Fosi preamp & amp and, till now, Sennheiser HD650s (only). Great as the headphones are (especially as I live next door to a major international airport!), it was high time to get some speakers. Needed to be under £100, unfortunately, so I wasn't expecting miracles, but these Miccas have made me very happy. I mostly Iisten to classical music, including lots of 20th century organ music: I've no subwoofer, but even Notre Dame's bigger pipes are clearly in the picture. Orchestral and vocal tones are very authentic to my ears (though it's good to be able to adjust the treble and bass with the Fosi preamp). If you're a dedicated audiophile, you probably won't be looking at these speakers anyway, but for me, being a music lover (and, in fact, a professional musician), these fabulous speakers are a purchase I can heartily recommend.

Astonishing Speakers
Wow, just wow! Pound for pound, these are the best speakers I’ve ever had (and I’ve had some speakers costing many thousands of pounds in my time). Check out the review on Audio Science Review. Highly recommended.

Good for the price. Spending a bit more worthwhile if you can
No match for more expensive speakers. Most of the sound is in the midrange with not much bass or treble. Good value, look quite nice and very compact.

Ultieme instapper voor de beginnende plaatjesdraaier
Top! Mini speakertjes met grootse prestaties. Ze hangen hier via een Fosi Box X5 ( phono preamp ) en een Fosi Audio V3 versterker aan een Audio Technica LP70XBT Helemaal blij mee. Chili Peppers Tyler The Creator Radiohead Wu-Tang Clan, het werkt allemaal. Ja, ik zou ze zeker aanraden.

Great value.
I’ve been using the Micca MB42X G2 speakers and overall I’m very impressed with what they offer for the price. First, I really like the finish and design. They have a clean, simple look that fits nicely in almost any setup. The build quality feels solid, and they look more premium than I expected at this level. The size is another big plus. They are compact enough to fit easily on a desk or small shelf without taking up too much space, making them ideal for near-field listening or smaller rooms. What really stands out, though, is the sound. These speakers deliver a clear, well-balanced, and surprisingly powerful audio performance. The mids are detailed, the highs are crisp without being harsh, and the bass is decent for their size. Even though they are not high-end speakers, they punch well above their weight and provide an enjoyable listening experience across different types of music and media. Of course, like any product in this range, they are not perfect. If you’re looking for very deep bass or audiophile-level detail, you might need to pair them with a subwoofer or look into higher-end options. But for everyday use, they perform exceptionally well. Final thoughts: The Micca MB42X G2 offer great value. With their attractive finish, compact size, and impressive sound quality, they are an excellent choice for anyone looking for good performance without spending too much.
