I’m pretty sure it would allow any vehicle to open their access door fully as well, even those that open vertically. **Q: how far does it reach out from the hitch** A: Roughly 12"...Check with Yakima for exact distance. **Q: could I use this in conjunction with a hitch mounted cargo carrier?** A: Yes you can, it has a 2” hitch on the outer side where you stack any normal hitch mounted device. **Q: What is the distance this sticks out to the passenger side from the reciever? It says 30" but is that the overall length? My exhaust pipe is 28" over.** A: I guess I don’t understand the question... On the back of my PU, it clears everything even with bikes on a Hollywood rack. Makes carrying extra storage easy with the swing hitch. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works As Intended *by on Reviewed in the United States August 25, 2021* I bought this for a family trip. Our dog rides in the back of my wife's SUV, and had trouble getting out when we used a cargo platform that was in her way. This let us swing the whole platform to the side to let her out.It went onto the hitch solid, it is built very heavy which is good and had a bolt to tighten onto the outgoing hitch to prevent any wiggle. It locks positively closed and in the open position. I do recommend a hitch clamp for where it connects to the vehicle since there isn't a bolt on the side, just to lock everything down tight. It probably matters less if you are just loading on bikes, but I probably had 200 plus pounds on the platform, and it rode really well.Also, if you are going to use it with a platform I recommend finding one with a shortish hitch tube.
