Drone kit for hackers/makers
Update, see below.EIELEDIY earns full marks for their customer service and design. They have outstanding customer service. My kit had been opened by customs. They opened every package, mixed parts together, lost some screws, cut 3 of the wires and taped them back together badly.EIELEDIY immediately took full responsibility and offered me the choice of a discount or a full return.I chose the discount and then discovered that the controller board had also been badly damaged. How did they respond? They not only immediately issued a full refund they also sent me instructions on how to repair the circuit board itself. These folks passed up the opportunity to gouge me for more money in favor of empowering me to help myself!Drones are complicated and EIELEDIY crammed a bunch of functionality into the kit; all the standard RC components, forward camera, optical flow camera, spare IO for obstacle avoidance. They did that all at an insanely low price point. They had to make some QC compromises to get there but they stand behind their product 100%.These two factors make EIELEDIY perfect for hackers, builders, and makers. They take care of the annoying and frustrating parts so you can focus on the creative parts.I just got another one of their kits and I'll definitely get more.Update: Since EIELEDIY completely refunded the previous drone I turned around and ordered a replacement from them. This one wasn't opened by customs. All the parts were accounted for. Nothing was damaged. Everything was sorted correctly. There was even a bag of spare parts. This time it worked perfectly. I tested it indoors and the optical flow is much better than I expected. Once I trimmed it, the drone hovers within a few cm of wherever it was when I release the controls.I tested it through the phone app and everything works as advertised.

Flys better than you think it will
Had a blast putting it together. Really fun. Easy to fly. Pretty killer deal. The camera is decent but really well done as far as teaching you about what you're doing and there's an ease of purpose to the design of the 3d printed parts. Impressed

Good kit to assemble, not really teaching anything STEM, but its fun.
The kit went together pretty easily, wouldn't recommend this kit for anyone who doesn't have at least a little knowledge on building some things. Not even electrical or anything specific, just assembly. The screws are tiny, to save weight and this will be where the young-young builders may experience problems without help or supervision. The 3D printed joints and body of the frame were well printed. Dimensionally correct to fit the square carbon frame rods. The ONLY real issue I had after following the included instructions was that the main body and the PCB control board holder were so close together that the included LiPo battery was too fat by about 1.5-2mm to fit and slide into the intended space. I was able to use enough washers as shims to get the lift needed to create space. The included remote transmitter was even easier to assemble. The 3D printed joystick covers could have been a bit better quality, but oh well. Labels on the PCB by way of silkscreening would have done wonders for figuring out what all the buttons do. Kept having to reference the back cover of the instruction manual to make sure I wasn't going to crash it.Once I was able to get the battery installed, the included remote performed all the functions it was supposed to do and the drone flew pretty well indoors. The cameras were the kind of quality you'd expect from such an inexpensive kit. They are at least on-par with the DJI/Tello camera quality and this drone is SIGNIFICANTLY quieter than the swarm of bees that is the Tello. The drone has already taken some crashes during calibration and a stronger gust of wind. I haven't seen any cracks in the 3D printed parts or noticeable damage to the drone, seems pretty durable. Can't speak on battery life yet, I haven't flown it long enough to even run it dry yet. So far so good.

Exceeded expectations
The media could not be loaded. I give this project 5 stars because it’s a great gateway into learning the concepts of drone components and building a drone. As far as price vs other drone build kits this is a steal. Although the material is 3-D printed with no housing the drone is pretty sturdy. Wish the camera angle was more front facing than down but overall quite impressed.

It works
I assembled it and it works and flies, so I am satisfied.

Fun to build, learned a bit and flies well!
I have had my share of drones, but I've not built one before using a kit like this. The instructions are pretty good with plenty of info on how they work and what the components do. The components themselves seem to be pretty good quality. I think with how open the kit is, it seems like you could design your own body/housing and install the components in that pretty easily. That might be a fun thing to do if you have a 3D printer and some design/modeling skills. Anyhoo, once built you can fly the thing which would be a whole lot easier and more fun if they would have printed the control info on the controller board or at least provided stickers so we could identify what each button does. No worries, that's what magic markers are for. The drone flies good, the camera works decently and it was fun to build! All good!
