Gently Tints Without Harsh Chemicals and Strong Fragrance!
I am reviewing Professional Clairol Advanced Gray Hair Solutions, after I first tried the moisturizing version with zero results (it is really designed for non-gray). I am 35-40% silver with fine virgin hair. As a former Cosmetologist, I have become highly sensitive to chemicals from years of exposure working in them. I typically cannot color my hair at all without some sort of negative reaction. I was a long time fan of Clairol's gentle Loving Care line before it was ultimately discontinued. I had been able to use it successfully for years without issue. If you want the short version, I am thrilled to report this product appears to be a fairly close comparable spinoff of Loving Care. Free of ammonia, peroxide, and other harsh chemicals and tints gray successfully. Just stop reading right here and get it!👍I first tried the Toasted Hazelnut, the lightest color in this line. The goal being three-dimensional high and lowlights (I used a highlighting cap to achieve this). My existing natural dark, leaving some of my natural silver, and applying the toasted hazelnut color to coat the silver areas of choice. I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, so the color would have the best possible chance to coat the hair shaft. I allowed the color to stay on a full 45 minutes, per other reviews. Also, remember my hair was completely resistant to the other color. I wanted it to work! Since this product uses O2 technology, allow air to reach your hair, rather than using the typical plastic cap. The Advanced Gray Solutions version is much thicker. The color is more condensed and resulted in a successful tinting of color on my grays. Expect tint. I also think this formula smells much more pleasant than the mousturizing version. Toasted Hazelnut for me is a pale caramel (see first photo). I will continue to play with other colors in this line. Darker colors may coat and hold somewhat better. (UPDATE!!) Since my original review, I started mixing Espresso Bean and Burgundy Brown. It is bomb! I absolutely love it (see second photo)! It's rich and natural and covers quite well. This has become my favorite combination, by far 😍Overall, I am so happy to say the advanced gray version does a great job. I have zero issues using the product. I do not experience the usual dizziness, headache, irritated scalp, or throat that I normally experience with color. Hooray!! An option for very sensitive people. The scent is pleasant in my opinion (for color) and quite tolerable to my very sensitive nose and breathing. It rinses off of skin quite easily. Easy to apply using a standard plastic bowl, applicator brush, and latex gloves. No staining, or mess (just use an old towel). Product rinses from my hair quite easily (use cool water to retain color longer) with no offensive fragrance. My husband loves the light scent it initially leaves behind. I found that quite unusual and pleasant. I do wish the results lasted longer. I always notice a loss of color from one shampoo. I typically shampoo once/twice a week. It lasts through 4-5 shampoos total for me, still leaving a very light tint by that time. Therefore, I reapply every couple, to 3 weeks. This has truly been a game changer for me. An excellent hair color product for sensitive people in my honest and professional opinion 😊 Yes!!Thanks so very much, Clairol. Please don't stop making this one!!

Great Product
This product does a good job of covering my gray hair for a very reasonable price. Also, I appreciate that it doesn't have a strong odor and seems to be gentle on my hair. I do leave it on for at least an hour to be sure the color has time to be absorbed well. The shade I use matches my hair color very well and it looks professionally done.

Super happy!
I am super happy with this semi-permanent hair color. My goal is to grow out my gray underneath the semi permanent color so that I can one day wash out the color completely and see what’s going on there and then either have fun with semi permanent color or if I’m lazy or too old to care just let it go.I’m sorry about not posting a picture, but I’d rather not have my images on Amazon.Out of laziness I have been coloring my hair dark golden blonde with permanent color just so that the gray regrowth is less noticeable and I don’t have to color it the second it comes in. It’s been okay but I have felt a little washed out and I don’t like that red thing that happens at the roots when you lift to a couple shades lighter than your natural color.I think I’ve found the answer with using a combination of Rich Walnut and Golden Chestnut of this hair color. I start by using Rich Walnut on about the first inch of hair growth from my scalp. I do all of my roots this way and then using a gloved hand I put some Rich Walnut hair color and work it into the full length of just the darkest part of my hair in the back, underneath the hair that shows from the top. I am very careful to not put the Rich walnut on the top hairs – I want to keep them lighter. Then I work the Golden Chestnut into the rest of my hair, sometimes mixing a little Rich Walnut into it before applying it. I just make sure I have my whole hair saturated with the Golden Chestnut before starting the clock. It comes out beautifully! The roots are darker but it looks rich and natural – it’s kind of like adding low lights I guess. This method avoids that weird red roots issue but still gives you the lightness on top, like you’ve had highlights done. The transition from the dark to light color is very natural too, not abrupt. These particular colors are warm colors so if your skin can’t take a warm color this probably won’t work well, but for me it’s perfect. I really couldn’t be happier.I haven’t gone through a whole color cycle yet time wise. I bathe more often but I wash my hair 2x per week. I wash my hair now in the sink in cold water (no way I’m taking a cold shower haha) with sulfate free shampoo and the color is holding well, fading as expected but at a nice slow pace. This is the first semi permanent hair color that has stayed in my hair for more than a couple of washes. I am very, very happy.

Happy! Safe and Effective to cover stubborn grays
Covered my silver grays. I am in my early 30s and have lots of grays and didn't want to damage my hair. My hair is dyed brown and have caramel and golden highlights. I left it on for 40 mins This lasted already 3 washes and I am happy with the results. Best thing is I can save what I don't use for later!

Did not cover grey 100%
So I applied this twice about a week apart using up two bottles thinking maybe it was I who somehow missed the grey roots framing my face.Unfortunately it was not that I missed any hairs, this product just simply did not cover up all my greys 100%.I left the product on longer than 40 minutes each time and to my surprise I could still see the greys framing my face. I want a product that is semi permanent because when I plan to transition to grey or salt and pepper I do not want it to be difficult to remove the black hair color.I wanted to try a demi permanent prior to this but did not as I was told by several people who have used demi permanent black hair color, could not remove the color completely from the ends of their hair. The rest of my hair does look darker, has more shine and softness over all.
