BISHOP BRIGGS Church Of Scars LIMITED EDITION EXPANDED TARGET CD

I discovered Bishop when I saw her as a guest mentor on American Idol. I was impressed by her personality, which I felt was down-to-earth, caring, energetic, and friendly, and I thought she performed well on the show's duet performances. Curious, I sampled some of her music and was quite surprised. I took a chance on buying the album and was blown away by how good it is. She has an amazing, soulful voice that doesn't hold back on emotion, yet somehow doesn't let the emotion overrun the musicality of the songs. In my mind she fits the definition of a soul singer. But don't let that definition fool you, this is not the soul singing of the seventies. She has an energy that is infectious. How do I describe this album? Take a style reminiscent of Lorde, Bea Miller, or Florence and the Machine, add in the tone and musicality of Birdy, and provide the vocal chops and passion of some of the great soul singers from the past. Finally, drop in tiny traces of dubstep and electronica atop the analogue stylings of guitar. There you have it, an incredible mix that doesn't seem possible but delivers. Oh, and thank you, Bishop, for using drums that sound like acoustic drums on "hallowed ground". Speaking of which, I didn't realize until I'd listened to the album several time how subtle but effective the drum work is--most of the songs have little more than a kick drum and maybe a snare or snap. Yet, they are rhythmically powerful. The feel of the rhythm in some songs is primarily expressed through melodic instruments and vocals. It's really impressive.All I can say is this is an amazing record, and I think a lot of people don't know what they are missing. It's not often I can find a record where I like every single song, let alone feel a longing to immediately play the whole collection again. Yet both are true here and I keep going back to replay this recording. It's really that good.

If I had to describe her music, I'd say she's similar in style to Lorde, with a stronger voice (she actually reminds me a bit of Adele on her slower songs, although there aren't many of them and I can't quite pinpoint the similarity). I'm sure I'll pick up favorites as I listen more, but this is one of the very few albums I listen to without doing a single skip. I do hope on future albums we'll see a bit more variety, with perhaps some slower tempo and ballad-type songs; this one is pretty much mid-tempo throughout. This is a wicked good debut though.So yes, I'm going to need her career to take off now because I think she's very talented and has a ton of potential. And she enunciates! Praise the music gods, she *enunciates.*

WOW! This album is amazing to capture a wide range of emotions and feelings. My absolute favorite track is "Dream" followed by "Water", "River", "The Fire", "White Flag". Got hooked on Bishop Briggs from Meteor Garden 2018 which featured "River." Bishop Briggs is my new favorite artist and is up there with Florence + the Machine.

I have been listening to Bishop Briggs for a couple years now. She continues to impress me. I really enjoy seeing her growth and recognition. Well deserved. She is a well rounded educated and smart woman who is another positive beacon for humans and women. I have seen her about 4 times in concert and blows me away every time. Looking forward to seeing her own the stage next month in Boston!! You go Bishop, do your thing!

Shrink wrap that the record came in was seemingly the wrong size, having a hole of exposure on the backside of the product. There wasn't, however, any damage because of the fact.The record itself came in a standard paper sleeve that was quickly tossed in the trash. The music itself was of high quality and sounded great! Listen to the entire album in one go, and I liked even more songs on it than I had thought. I strongly recommend it for people who have heard her stuff on TV and radio and want more of it. That's what this record is, consistent quality over quantity.

Je l'ai achetée en deux exemplaires(pour moi et mon ami). Arrivée en très bon état. Certaines de ses anciennes chansons ne sont pas présentent dans le CD, tel que ''dark side'' ou '' praying'', mais ça en reste pas moins un très bon album.
