Love this stuff!!!
This product is bigger than sand, but, smaller than gravel. It has a lovely natual color, but doesn't look exactly like the picture. Personally, I think the rock is prettier than the picture. One bag was enough to cover my 5.5 gallon aquarium and plant my live plants, but, there definitely isn't any extra. I had no problem cleaning the gravel. I dumped it all in a large bowl and ran water in the bowl. The gravel was heavy enough to stay in the bottom of the bowl with a slow stream of water. I ran my hands thru the gravel, occasionally dumping the discolored water out and putting fresh in. It took about 5 minutes. The company also includes a packet of water clearing solution that I used although I think I could have gotten away with not using it. The gravel stays put in the aquarium and is not sucked up or displaced by my water filter or bubbler.

Fine gravel, not sand
I was reluctant to purchase this sight unseen because the company calls it "sand", while the photos appeared to be a coarser grain. So I took a gamble that it was like the photos, and I was not disappointed. It is a clean, fine gravel, which is what I was looking for to add to my regular aquarium gravel for a more natural look, and give plants in areas of the tank a nicer substrate to root into. I didn't use the included water clearing solution, I just rinsed the gravel with running water 4 or 5 times until it ran clear. I added it to my tank without any cloudiness.

Beautiful and Clean
The sand is a beautiful natural color. It’s speckled with different colored large sand grains. Some clear quarts, some red, brown, etc. In person the sand is lighter than in the product photo but it’s still a warm yellowy color overall. It comes with the little cleaner chemical to help with dust but it wasn’t very dusty all. The 5lb bag was just the perfect amount to go in my 5gallon tank. The price is a little expensive but it’s definitely a good product for the price.

A Good Natural Substrate
This substrate is great for a planted 5 gallon nano tank set up. It looks natural (thicker than pool sand but not as big as gravel), caps the organic soil, and holds plants well. There was cloudiness the 1st 48hrs but it cleared up when you use the bio cleanse packet. There is a little dust in the substrate when you open it so be sure to rinse it out before you put it in your aquarium. Substrate was sent promptly with no delays or damage.

It's a small bag!
I didn't realize 5lbs was so little. It's the perfect amount for a 2-5 gallon tank. But I have a 10 gallon. I got 2 bags and I dont think it's enough for my planted tank. I need at least 2 more bags. But the quality of the product is great! Very beautiful.

Not cloudy at all. Happy fishies.
Looks great! It’s not the soft white sand you find along the ocean. It’s more like the color of sand you’d find at a lake, but small pebble-sized grain. Only needed 1/2 the bag for our 5 gallon tank. I didn’t need to use anything to clear the water. I just dumped it in a thin pillow case and rinsed until the water was clear (it initially looks rusty). After thoroughly rinsing, we put it in the tank and added water. The tank water continued to look clear, even after we turned the filter/pump on. Our fish is a happy little fella and his new place looks so clean and beachy.

Great tiny gravel
I spent weeks looking for a place that has their jungle river sand, and could not find it, so I settled on this gravel, and I am glad I did. It's not too small, nor too big. My plecos dug a hole in this stuff, under a log in my tank, and now I don't even see them, unless I shine a light down into their den, lol. The gravel cleans pretty easily, and doesn't seem to be as annoying as sand would be, as it doesn't easily suck up into the vacuum.

Can't believe I am this excited over gravel
The size is perfect for my shrimp and rabbit snail nano tank. I have not rinsed it yet but I have been keeping aquariums for over 50 years and way back when you had to rinse every gravel until you thought your hands would fall off so this won't be anything new. If the answers I got back about using a gravel siphon are right and this is not as light as sand and will not get sucked up when you clean the gravel then this is going to be perfect. The gravel is a very tiny. I guess you could say it's a very, very large grain of sand. Very pretty color can't wait to get it wet and see what the color will be in the tank.

I can see why everyone is raving about this substrate. Just get it you won't regret your purchase! it's in between sand and gravel so not very big and not very small no sharp edges it's just perfect OH and the natural color will make it work with anything in your tank! also clears so fast, didn't even have to use the clarifier it came with. Would buy again!

Great product. Bought a few bags as a base for an aquarium and then I put a more coarse gravel over it. It was really clean coming out of the bag. I like that it is not a fine sand and is very easy to put common plants in. There are no nutrients for the plants in this fine gravel so you have to use fertilizer. If you are putting in plants that get nutrients from soil then you may want to consider a different substrate. My cuttings all developed long healty roots within a matter of a few weeks of being planted. Will definitely continue to use this product.

Was exactly as advertised. One 5lb bag was just enough for my 5gal better tank. I like the natural look. It is very coarse sand, more like fine gravel. It did cloud the water a little, it came with solution to add to the water and it cleared in 12 hrs.

I tried many different types, and this one is perfect. I love the colors; they look calm, and the sizes are perfect. It’s not too light like sand that always floats. Also, fish waste doesn’t stand out as much with this substrate.

Looks beautiful and is more fine than regular aquarium gravel.
