Okay for the price
Most Hangiri this size (13 inches) are upwards of $100 U.S.D. I paid around $40. The copper bands surrounding the outer side of the bowl are supposed to hold the round shape of the bowl during use. Humidity and moisture can warp the wood causing it to turn oval rather that circular. Unfortunately the copper bands on the Hangiri I received were not even touching the wood except for where the small nails were attached. Also upon the 1st use a couple of the nails fell out. I didn't contact the seller because the return window had closed before the 1st time I used the bowl. As of now (after using the bowl 5 or 6 times) it still is holding it's shape. Not sure if I'll buy another one from this seller when that time comes.

Don't buy
Not well made, copper band to large, side wood coming apart.

If you want an actual Japanese item don't bother with this
Nowhere, but NOWHERE, does JapanBargain identify this product as "Made in China". If I wanted a Chinese hangiri I could have gone down to the local market and paid less than half the price for the exact same item. It even shipped from Japan! The hangiri itself is your typical new pine growth wood, light and open grained, with the typical attention to detail with glaring exception (nice tight seams with the bottom splintering) . It will require seasoning before use. Not sure I'm even going to bother. So disappointing.
