8 Litre Galvanized Mop Bucket

This is a Prince among 8 Litre Galvanized Mop Buckets, it's slightly retro design allows us to re-enter the enchanted and sedate world that existed prior to the squeegee mop and several even less appealing cleaning aids. This product's efficacy remains beyond doubt and and it's massive 8 litre capacity dwarfs many lesser mop buckets: rival 7 litre mop buckets being a case in point. The carry handle is more than fit for purpose and manages to transport the whopping 8 litre load with ease.In terms of style this bucket stands alone, it's no-nonsense design just shouts efficiency but the silvery galvanised finish adds a touch of glamour to an item that many would regard as purely utilitarian, so much so that we are inclined to display the bucket as an eye-catching centrepiece on our mantelshelf when not in use. Many a lively after-dinner discussion has focused on this piece and we are confident that it's continued presence will stimulate yet more debate in the future.In terms of durability the bucket excels. In the interests of providing a thorough review I have embarked on a series of tests and can report that the bucket came through with flying colours. I constructed a series of platforms at 2 metres, 5 metres, 10 metres and 20 metres above a concrete driveway. I dropped the 8 litre galvanised mop bucket from each level, both empty and full and am able to report only slight superficial damage when dropped from 20 metres with a full payload. It could be argued that the damage might well have been worse on this final test had the dog not strayed into the testing area, but that was largely outside of my control and I will therefore not allow this to corrupt my data. Sadly it was definitely the final test as far as the dog was concerned as it suffered rather more than superficial damage, but hey, it speaks well of the bucket and may possibly be used in future advertising campaigns. I can see it now, 'The 8 litre galvanised bucket that is considerably more durable than a medium sized dog', it's not quite 'Typhoo puts the Tea in Britain', but it does have a certain ring to it, much the same as the sound the bucket made when landing on the dog.All in all, this is a great product and I will certainly be purchasing many more come the festive season. It's not that I intend to increase my mopping during this period, although that can happen if the wife hits the sherry too hard, but I think these 8 litre galvanised buckets might make a wonderful gift for all the family.Finally, I'd like to thank Amazon for this opportunity to express my views on this great product.

It finally arrived. I had been going through plastic mop buckets at the rate of one every couple of years and I was reminded how sturdy metal buckets were when I visited my mother in law. She has had the same bucket for at least 15 years. I decided to check them up when I got home and could hardly believe my eyes. They are so much cheaper than the plastic ones that are available at the local supermarket. I ordered one and carried on using my broken plastic one until it arrived. It was later than promised but I think Christmas post might have something to do with that, it was certainly despatched promptly.The bucket is lighter than I expected and smaller than ones I have seen in the past but as I have only small areas that need mopping I actually prefer it as it makes storage easier.

This product arrived on time and was sufficiently packaged. I purchased this galvanized mop bucket after breaking a number of plastic mop buckets just by trying to wring out the mop sufficiently. I also have a few rental properties and the cleaners were also having the same problems with the plastic mop buckets. This galvanised mop bucket takes me back to my childhood when we had a similar mop bucket which seemed to last forever. I feel comfortable using this mop bucket knowing I can exert a lot of pressure when wringing out the mop without fear of the bucket breaking. The benefit being my kitchen floor isn't soaked with water because of inadequate wringing out. The bucket is very sturdy and has a good size base, again sometimes a problem with the design of some plastic mop buckets, this galvanised bucket isn't going to get tipped over by accident. It also isn't too heavy. If I could change one thing about this bucket it would be to make the wringer just slightly larger, but that is my personal preference, it does the job just fine as is. I have and will definitely purchase more of this product as I increase my rental portfolio.

The con is that the bucket leaks a little! For a mop bucket, you’d expect that to be the minimum. Otherwise everything else is as expected. Had to get my husband to silicone the inside of it to stop it from leaking. Have used it 3 times since siliconing and no issues so far and am happy with it-be it with the weight and amount of water that it holds. Fingers crossed it’d last me longer than my last plastic bucket (which actually lasted quite long at about 8 years or so, I think).

very sturdy, survives a bashing by an electric wheelchair, didn't bend buckle or tip over! just about ok to carry half full of water any more and it is too heavy for me. wringer is fixed so no chance of it popping off in use or breaking

Leaked on arrival and broke the wringing out bit on first use.Got a refund but what a waste of time and effort, this item should not be for sale.

I had been looking for a decent mop bucket for years. I bought a plastic one a year ago which broke within 4/5 months after using. I'd seen all sorts of buckets since then. I'm finished with the plastic ones as they don't last long. I decided to look on Amazon and came across this one. Honestly this is the best mop bucket I have had in 30 years. This bucket is strong and lightweight even with water. I remember my mother having a galvanized bucket in the 60's which I know she had until the late 80's so I know they can last long. I hope this lasts just as long. Bye bye plastic. Would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately it leaked.Like a lot of people I thought "try and ditch plastic" , but it did not work. The problem being the new metal buckets ect are made cheaply so unlike the older metal buckets the bases are just folded over and not brazed like they used to be so can leak quite easily.So until they start making metal buckets like they used to they will leak, just a matter of time. Hopefully in a few years they may learn.Great seller though, refunded ASAP.
