Live At The Minack

The Minack ( means A Rocky Place), an unusual, eerie setting for a concert but its a fantastic place. The acoustics are great and the backdrop is breathtaking. The eeriness is that one minute it can be sunny and whilst you are watching the show night descends without you being aware and when you look up its just well black, it really is a great setting. I unfortunately procrastinated and missed out in getting a ticket to this show though I have seen a number of other show there.The DVD is a great tour of Seth's music including tracks from his four albums together with a track I have not heard before, Hearts and Minds" . I really love the vibrancy and energy that these guys put into their playing. I remember both Sean and Seth in their Equation days seeing them in Plymouth way back in `98 and remarked then on the incredible manner in how they played. They are both great craftsmen. With Ben and Simon the sound they create has a great quality to it and it transcends well on this DVD, listening its like being at the concert. The picture quality of the concert is exceptional together with panoramic seascapes of the surrounding area. I loved the sound of the sea crashing through the living room when I first put the DVD on, its an amazing sound and you just want to have the ability to apparate there.This live DVD is a brilliant concert. Seth has a real buzz in playing to the crowd who pluck up the courage part way through to join him on centre stage and support and encourage him. If you enjoy his music this DVD will be a wise purchase. Its stonkingly good and I love it. Buy it, invite the neighbours in, play through surround sound, breath the music and have a great hoe-it-down - you will love it.

My husband and I just cant stop watching this dvd - it has to be one of our favourites, ranking alongside Page and Plant's No Quarter and Nirvana unplugged. Absolutely brilliant performance from Seth and the band- they really give their all and the Minack is a wonderfully atmospheric setting. Camera work is good and so is the sound - we crank the volume up so the floor is shaking and it still sounds great. Urge you to buy this fab dvd from a very underrated set of musicians - they deserve to be much bigger than they are.

If you are a Seth Lakeman fan then this DVD is a must. If you have not really heard of Seth Lakeman or are just getting into his music, then this is also a must!!Seth Lakeman is a brilliant multi-instrumentalist and a very talented individual. The band he plays with (which includes his brother, Sean) are equal talented individuals, the music they play is oustanding and second to none.With well over an hour of fantstic and flawless performances, it mainly includes a brilliant mix of songs between three albums, Freedom Fields, Kitty Jay and Poor Mans Heaven (although a song from Punch Bowl and the up and coming Hearts and Minds is on there too!). Most of the songs are basedon folklore or stories which make every sone completely different and interesting. As each song has its own theme and storie the music also individual and truely superb.There's a good change between ballads and lively folk music and you wil be blown away by each one, whether he is being supported by his band, or if it is just him and his violin. Anyone, young or old, musical or not, will thoroughly enjoy the mood, atmosphere and energy that is on this DVD.The DVD proves that Seth deserves every bit of praise and every award he's won. Hats off to Seth Lakeman! He is an amazing singer/songwriter and is a tribute and legend for folk music!!

I always enjoyed Seth's music even though I'm a more rock-oriented listener.Honesty, passion, great musicianship and celtic spirit - it's all there.I bought this dvd as an additional item in a bigger order, taking advantage of a very nice drop in price. I must have been blessed that day. It turned out to be the best item I received in that whole higly participated package.The quality of music is wonderful as well as the quality of the dvd. The only thing you want after watching 'Live At The Minack' is to go there and see the awesome theatre on the clif where the show took place.Highly recommended to any fan of folk-based passionate music. Pure talent.

Living abroad in the middle east I don't ever have the opportunity to see many live gigs. Seth Lakeman is by far my most favourite musician and from the cam videos on YouTube and the comments people were putting, I learned that his live performances were AMAZING. So I found this, watched it and it totally cured my depression from lack of seeing him live. The quality of the video production is great (the camera managed to catch every aspect of the show and the beautiful surrounding of which it was set), and then of course the performance was just spectacular. Playing around 30 or so songs in such a picturesque landscape, and portraying to us the true feeling and passion he puts into his music, Seth Lakeman pulls off a concert that you'll want to watch over and over again. And thanks to this DVD, you can.A must for Lakeman fans everywhere!

Seth Lakeman's Live at the Minnack is a breathtaking DVD of his concert held in this totally unique venue. Set in an area of outstanding beauty in Cornwall,you see Seth at his best, playing and singing his heart out as the sun sets on the sea in the background. He plays all his best songs and themusicians who join him are all at the top of their game, too. It's fascinating to watch this highly talented young man move into his inner creative spaceand if you watch carefully you can see that Seth is so absorbed in his story-telling that he goes into a trance at times. He's one of the world's true musicalgems and you don't want to miss it. If you couldn't be there in person, this is the next best thing!
