Dead on arrival, installed proper M.2 SSD and DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM and could not get the barebone system to boot into BIOS or even get a splash screen to be able to hit a FN key, contacted the seller and got basic troubleshooting tips and an actual solution. So it was sent back to Amazon and I still have yet to receive a refund or replacement due to events in Los Angeles, California where the return center is and I'm on the East Coast, this has become very inconvenient.

Unlike newer AMD mobile processors, it comes with 8 full Zen cores, making it perfect PC for my software development tasks. GPU is powerful enough to drive two 4K displays at 120Hz. The downside for this PC is with windows. It took me a while to find all the necessary device drivers to install as the Windows installer does not recognize the PC, but once you install them, it worked like a champ. Hardware-wise, I had an issue with the Wifi/BT module and needed to replace one. (Did not contact Minisforum for this as I already had a replacement in my drawer). So be prepared to do lots of troubleshooting upfront.

I purchased one of the Minisforum UM870 Slim right before Christmas, on sale - the price was really good. The performance seemed pretty quick, though I barely used it. Just this week, now there are vertical stripes onscreen when in Windows 11, but not the BIOS. I thoroughly removed, then reinstalled the latest AMD chipset and grahpics drivers, rebooted, didn't make a difference. I tried Windows System Restore, no difference. I reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled Windows 11 clean and all drivers - after a day, stripes are back! This is my first AMD CPU purchase in 12 years and, I knew I should have stuck with Intel, even though their HDMI is limited to 60hz. Been building PCs for personal use since the early 2000s (AMD Athlon, etc.) and looking back, AMD CPUs have ALWAYS had issues (overheating was the problem back then)!! I thought all of that had been solved by now! NEVER, ever again, what a waste of hard-earned money and time troubleshooting! I've had a couple AMD GPUs over the years, no issues with them though. I'll just buy a barebones I7 or I9 that takes DDR 5 RAM, reuse the 32gb RAM, and 1TB NVME, and count my blessings! Do not buy AMD CPUs! After deeper research, I see these 8745-H are CPUs that failed quality control as 8845 or similar at the factory and are being sold with a different number to recoup the costs, selling them in bulk for pennies to builders. Smart I guess for them, bad for us, the consumer.

What an amazing PC! Bought the barebones. 4 screws under the feet and your in. Easy to install up to 2 NVME drives and 2 sticks of RAM. I did an upgrade of an old PC and cloned the drive. Windows 10 instantly recognized everything and worked. Let me upgrade to Win 11 and then I installed AMD chipset and graphic drivers. Still works like a champ and is FAST! Very happy with this purchase!
