Do not get this GAME!
We finally opened this, my 6 yr old daughter and I, from Christmas, and it is horrible. You can't free play any instruments until you unlock them with an adventure game, and get points, which had instructions in words she couldn't even read yet the game said for 1st through 4th grade, she is in first grade, there was a long dialog between a sheep and a spy type check in person. You then get through that, to pick a continent, only one is available, South America, others need to be unlocked. You can pick from three countries within South America. We pick it, and then have to match the music they just played, and you can only pick one instrument, the rest are locked. We did the bongos and couldn't match it for anything, and I even have played the drums, I tried after her frustration level was off the charts. I couldn't do it either. So, she got zero points, and couldn't unlock anything. I then pick another country of the three available, in South America, to get a pan flute, that played music, you then have to play it back, supposedly, and it makes no noise, sound whatsoever, to learn it by ear, when it is your turn to play it back, it wanted you to pick it by the note labels on the pan flute. This game is horrible, I would have to play it myself to unlock the free play section, and I am not going to do that unless I want to be nuts and angry. I am actually going to write Amazon and ask them to take this back, something I have never ever done!!!! Not for a kid, not for an adult, ridiculous. Now, I will compare to my Wii Music.. where you pick up an instrument and can play it right away. You can play it with a band, you can play it solo, get that instead if you can!

Great learning game
It seems like a great little game for the kids to play, but it does not get played that often.

Music takes skills
I bought this game for my 8 year old brother he didn't understand it as many times I tried explaining what he needed to do. It was very complicated when I tried playing it myself but, then again I'm not a huge fan of games of this genre.

Excellent for little composers
Perfect for my child to develop an ear for music, especially the traditional instruments. Fun games, or they seem fun to her in my opinion, teach the basics of music and the featured instruments are replicated for enjoyment without frustration at this age. Very intuitive for younger ones.
