15-Inch Handmade Wooden Chess Set, Metal Pieces & Storage, Purple

This board is a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship. I enjoy woodworking myself, and this is well made. Drawer slides easily and metal pieces are heavy with felt pads; you can tell this has been crafted by hand (any wood worker will tell you). The smell of fresh wood stain and urethane will fade quickly (for those unfamiliar with it and/or handmade wood products.. I personally love it, and it displays the quality of the work and protective coats). Smooth wood finish and nice use of the different grains. Please sell other handmade products like jewelry boxes, puzzle boxes with hidden drawers, etc. Making this a family heirloom to pass down. I personally prefer the drawer to the latch version as the latch version will need extra care/maintenance over years for alignment. If it scratches over time from use, this can be refinished to look good as new, which is the benefit of using solid wood pieces. This is the purple board - very glad it is not too purple, as it reminds me of nacre. Craftsmanship like this is easily worth the price, especially when you factor in the ability to refinish it overtime.

I bought this for my son that enjoys playing chess as a Christmas present. The pieces are nice heavy metal with felt bottoms. The drawer pulls out on each side with a nicely cut foam and felt protector for each piece to sit in. The board itself is beautifully crafted. Can’t imagine the time that went into this… if you know someone that loves chess this is a great set to have for a life time.

This exceeded expectations and was a shockingly wonderful surprise to my wife. The smell of lacquer after unpackaging and setting up was a refreshing reminder that this is a relatively freshly made item. Friends and family seem convinced I couldn’t have found such an extravagant item on Amazon. Shipping says “Turkey” so I simply say that’s where I got it while relaying that it’s handmade. It’s beautiful, totally high quality, and seems to defy its cost of ownership. Highly recommend 💯 Stands out in any environment as seemingly grander quality than the cost would suggest.

overpriced for the product! would probable give it a 2 3/4 stars. I suggest go to an actual store if you want a good board. there are about 6 to 8 squares that have a very noticeable defect, compared to the rest of the board. it has a definite bumpy feel to the surface of the board! I truly hope all the great reviews I read before buying were not lies!!! Maybe I was just the lucky one to get the defective one..... I order on line because I do not have the means to get to a store. Bad choice on my part:(

Got this to play chess with my daughter. Beautiful set and peices. All comes packaged so well. The board alone is breathtaking but the peices are also beautiful. Only downside is the wash used on the peices is very different on each peice, not worth any less stars

We wanted a memorable giftt for our grandson's 16th birthday. This chess set fit the bill. The inlay work is beautiful. The chess pieces are a nice weight. The storage drawer holds the pieces tightly. Perfect.

Best chess board with unique features and pieces

Definitely handmade you can tell by the imperfections in the wood, always a good thing, so much stuff claims to be handmade and it's not. The metal pieces are nice and heavy, the board itself is beautiful. And it all looks nice put out there in the open. I'd say this is a buy.

Bought the purple set as a birthday gift for my husband and he loved it. We played a few games on it and found that the British army pieces were readable and had good weight. Up close, the craftsmanship of the wood is gorgeous and heirloom worthy for us. Very happy with our purchase!
