Manic Panic Love Color Depositing Conditioner, Purple Rose, 8oz

This is not your average color depositing shower product. This is essentially full blown hair dye that happens to condition your hair as well! A few years ago, I dyed my hair pink to show support for my mom who was battling breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy during Covid so we couldn’t sit at the hospital so I decided while I waited to pick her up, I was going to dye my hair pink so when she came out of surgery feeling like part of her appearance was gone and everyone could notice I could say “they’re not looking at you mom. They’re looking at the girl with cupcake pink hair!”. I kept my hair pink through her entire fight, which she won! I actually loved my pink hair, but it was terribly hard to keep up with. It had to be re dyed every 1-2 weeks. I tried all kinds of color depositing shampoos and conditioners meant to extend the color life, but none really worked well. So, here we are a couple years later. I decided I wanted to get some color and highlights in my hair, but wanted to do something different than everyone else was doing and landed on pink highlights. I went to the salon, got it done, but knew it wouldn’t last long because I just cannot take freezing cold showers. So, three weeks later, my $300 hair color was gone and I needed to revive the pink. I bought some of the pink dye I had used years ago, but then also saw this conditioner which I hadn’t tried before and thought I would grab this too to keep the pink alive after I re-colored it. Well, yesterday I decided coloring my hair was too big of a task, but decided to try out this conditioner. Read directions that said to use gloves to prevent staining, which I bought when I got this and the hair dye (in my head I’m like they all say that but I’ve literally never had my skin stain from color depositing shampoos/conditioner) and to leave it on for 5-10 minutes. So I wash my hair, squeeze out the excess water, throw on my Gloves and start lathering on the conditioner. I don’t have a mirror in my shower so I thought it would be a good idea to reach out and grab my brush on the bathroom vanity and brush the conditioner through my hair to try to make sure it got onto all of my hair. First, the smell is quite nice. Not chemical- hair dye like. My hair is insanely knotty when it’s wet, but while I was brushing it through my hair I realized it was doing a really good job at moisturizing my very dry, knotty and bleach damaged ends! I finish brushing it through as best as I can and hope that it is evenly distributed. After noticing some pink splatters on the shower walls that did NOT come off when I rinsed with water no more than 2 minutes after the conditioner got on the wall. So, I was like letttt me go ahead and put my hair in a clip rather than leaving it laying down on my back. So I leave it on while I wash my face and body, making sure to scrub all the areas of my skin that I couldn’t see that likely came in contact with this product. I finish, rinse it out and look down at my wet ends and notice I can DEFINITELY see that my hair is pink again. Fast forward to it drying and holy bananas! It’s like I got it dyed again! With the exception of it being uneven as crud because despite my best efforts, I did not distribute the product throughout my hair evenly. I did use a very generous amount.. triple the amount of conditioner I would typically use, but utilizing a mirror would have been a good idea. This stuff is a very good value for your money. There is a lot of product in the bottle and it absolutely does what it says it’s going to do! My suggestion would be, treat this conditioner more as hair dye and not color depositing conditioner because had I assumed it was like all the others I had tried, my forehead and back would be dyed pink and it would be even less evenly distributed through my hair. My hair has bleached highlight spots, dark blonde areas and light-medium brown areas. This stuff effectively colored all of the shades of blonde in my hair, but did not have much effect on the brown shades, which is what I wanted, but if you have brown hair- don’t use this and expect to have bright pink hair

I’ve had neon pink hair for four years now and I’ve always been loyal to the punky depositing color shampoo & conditioner. I recently ran out and it was out of stock so I decided to try this one out. I’m very picky about the shade of pink I like, I don’t like when it’s to “orangey pink” but I also don’t like when it starts to look to purple either, this is such a perfect true hot pink color with a slightly cooler undertone to it. It’s very similar to the shade of the punky one as well. I have very fine, naturally pin straight hair with oily roots and dryish ends from all the texture spray and product I use, I was nervous that this may weigh my hair down a little but surprisingly it didn’t and left my hair feeling soft and nourished without sacrificing any volume or looking greasy. Normally with color depositing conditioners I feel like it also takes a few consistent uses to get the best results and get it looking super vibrant again but I was really impressed with the color payoff from this for only using it one time. I’m very excited and curious to see how much brighter it makes my hair as I continue to use it. I still love the punky one as well but this one is a great alternative and I would highly recommend either one. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the scent, however it’s very faint so it doesn’t bother me to much. It has a very strange slightly off putting herbal almost rosemary type scent to it that I’m personally not a fan of, (almost weirdly smells like oregano at times ?) I feel like it doesn’t really fit the vibe of a vivid conditioner line either and I think these would be even better if they had some kind of fun or fruity scent (like maybe strawberry for the pink or even something more gourmand or sweet and floral?) I also think it is a tiny bit pricy for the amount you get, although it’s a decent sized bottle I feel like to really saturate your hair with the color you do use a lot of it so I could see myself finishing it quickly. I think $12-$15 would be a more reasonable price. Overall though I think it’s a great product for vivid & pink upkeep!

This is a truly beautiful color! Even when you just pour it out in your hand or bowl or however, you like to apply it, you’ll notice that it has almost like a metallic color to it. It picks up light very very nicely! Super easy to use! Many of the other color depositing conditioner that I have tried way to of them magenta color for me and this one is a really stunning, bright almost neon candy pink. They give you a generous amount enough to do your hair more than once and I have really long hair on my hair. It does fade unevenly, but the person who bleached my hair when I got it done did a terrible job so I think that might just be how my hair was bleached don’t necessarily necessarily take it as an indicator on how it’s gonna fade in your hair. I suggest personally putting it on for a little while before you get in the shower to make it last a little longer than just putting it on while you’re in the shower. It does leave my hair feeling very soft when I use it. This is definitely a must buy product.

Will be buying this again! I put this over a bleached strip in my hair and barely left it on for a few minutes and got this rich hot pink!!! I highly recommend wearing gloves and to wash any “conditioner” off your skin or it will stain!! So be careful in your shower 😅 it even deposits on dark brown hair so if you dont want that be very intentional on where you put it. It’s very effective and worth what I paid! My hair also feels good and soft which I was worried about since some said their hair felt rough. There is no scent except while using in the shower - dried there is no scent.

Good pigmentation and leaves hair looking good, it doesn’t fade as fast as other brands I’ve tried before.

Love the fuschia! It’s gentle and provides consistency to my color, plus vegan friendly! Can never go wrong with Manic Panic!

Worried at first cause when I put it on it looked more magenta than purple but dries to the exact purple I wanted. It smells a little funny but not as strong as others I tried. Unfortunately the color constantly rubs off from day one. It took almost a week for the color to stop rubbing off but now its time to reapply since the color has faded. I had high hopes but I won't be reapplying and will try another brand.

So my hair stylist recommended a different brand and it did work but it would turn my green color into turquoise/teal. This one is absolutely perfect! I'm so happy to finally find something that makes the bright green last longer. I went to my hair stylist after almost 6 months and her and her coworker were actually impressed at how good the color looked. I do think that it's also pretty moisturizing.

My hair was purple and I bleach bathed it to strip a bit out, it came out blue so I expected it to go purple again. I put it on wet/damp hair and left it maybe half an hour. It came out SO red!! If you want a strong vibrant red then I’d suggest this, you get loads and it’s so easy to work through but be careful because it does stain very badly, for days after when I cleaned my face the pads were red, pyjama straps were red, etc but it does come out of towels and clothes and came off the shower tray with bleach. I will try the other colours

UPDATE EDIT: it’s almost been a year and the bottle still isn’t even empty yet. still going strong as the best pink dye i’ve ever bought and i’m never going back! i’ve been recommending it to literally all my friends because it’s that good, especially for cost effectiveness. ——— let me tell you, this stuff is FANTASTIC! i’ve tried multiple pink hair dyes over the years and absolutely none of them are as effective as this depositing conditioner. la riche directions, good dye young, live color xxl, crazy color, and even manic panic’s regular tubs/amplified all fade within like two washes. i’m on my FOURTH wash of my hair after using this and i’m not even kidding the colour has barely budged, it’s wild. even though it’s a conditioner, i should have diluted it *more* because i wasn’t expecting the staying power to be so phenomenal, and usually i go for a more pastel pink. if you’re looking for a pink dye that ACTUALLY stays in your hair, get this. it’s also cheaper when you compare the price vs ml to the amplified bottles of manic panic dye! 💕 plus it smells lovely and left my hair feeling soft after 🙂‍↕️ totally going to pick up more of these and grab one of the blue ones because they’re THAT pigmented!! keep in mind that i still diluted this with extra conditioner, but 1st pic is from when i first dyed my hair and the 2nd pic is after four washes! ✨ (ignore the black dye on my face lmao)
