Everglades: America's Wetland

The photographs are incredibly beautiful, and the descriptions accompanying them bring the views of the Everglades to vibrant life. Even as a previous resident from childhood, I was amazed by how much I didn't actually know about the Everglades and south Florida. I highly recommend this enchanting book.

It is a detailed photographic journal of the various area of the Everglades. I look forward to seeing the real thing in early December .

This was a book I originally checked out from the library for photo reference material I needed for a drawing I was doing. But, after i started going through it, and reading it, I became so interested in this very-often-overlooked and forgotten about MAJOR ecosystem and wildlife refuge, Our American Everglades! I decided to buy it for my home library. All I can say about it, is that it is the best money I ever spent! What a find! Beautiful book! Great reference material! Amazing slice of life! Trust me, it's for you, too!

I love the book! It is gorgeous! Unfortunately, it arrived damaged, so I am waiting for Amazon customer care to solve the problem! I highly recommend the book! It is beautiful! Great coffee table book, that I think you enjoy even with your children, as there are many animal pictures! Short descriptions, so even kids can be grabbed by this coffee table book.I only gave 4 stars because of packaging. It is a wonderful book! Beautiful pictures!

This is an outstanding book with beautiful pictures that capture such a vibrant and complex place. This book is on the mantel in my apartment and I wish I could get everyone I know to flip through the pages. There is a lot to be learned and despite the artistic beauty, there is a lot of information.Great book...Thanks Mac!

I am absolutely delighted with this book. There has been a gap in the market for a really good book about The Everglades with wonderful photographs to illustrate the text. I love wildlife art books and I took a chance buying this book from Amazon without actually seeing it. No chance of disappointment and my Christmas holiday was spent having time to enjoy every chapter. I have visited the Everglades only twice from UK and it has helped me understand the biodiversity of this wonderful habitat and appreciate the improvements that have been done and are still being done to this special area of Florida. Whilst not replacing Marjory Stoneman Douglas's book - The Everglades, River of Grass, I feel that it greatly compliments it and is very up to date.I would highly recommend this book for bird and nature lovers as well as geography enthusiasts.

I bought this book because I saw the author give a talk on TED Talks (an internet forum of wonderful shared ideas.) The author described his time photographing the Everglades, and as he spoke, the most GLORIOUS VISTAS were projected onto a screen behind him -- Everglades sunrises, animals, birds, plant life, and the mysterious waters that support them all. The scenes were so breathtaking, I HAD to have a copy of this book to study in detail. Eachphotograph is a total work of art -- worthy of being framed and exhibited in a museum of art. Some of the scenes (like the one of the bird on the cover) took days and days of patience on the part of the author to capture.As the Everglades are a unique WORLD treasure, they truly deserve to be preserved, but as the onslaught of "progress" and civilization encroaches more and more each year, the vast beauty of this wilderness will eventually be destroyed. Thanks to this wonderful author's work, we will have a stunning record of what it is we will lose forever, unless folks band together and work to preserve it. I recommend this awesome book to all who treasure such wonders. It's way more than just another coffee table book! It is an heirloom your family will treasure for generations.
