Simplicity 8723 Harry Potter Costume Sewing Pattern, Kids, Teens & Adults, Sizes XS-XL

Love this pattern. This is my second one! It has a lot to offer- there’s a shirt pattern, a tie pattern and the robe- in kids XS to L and also a whole another pattern set in adult XS to L, all included. I’ve only made the robe (three times so far) I used flannel and skipped the interfacing, and it was really really easy to make. I’ve bought two of this pattern to get various sizes. In my humble opinion, this may run a bit large. Normally I’m adult XXL and the adult M was comfortable on me, but it’s easy to fit to size, and robes are by nature big and flowing. The Gryffindor robe is for a child and was also just a bit large but kids sizes are always tricky, and she loved it so much anyway. Heck, it’ll fit in a week the way kids grow lol. I’ve sewn forever and found this super easy, but I’m sure a beginner could handle this pattern too. Simplicity always gives great directions and illustrations. (And if you get stuck go turn your own clothes inside out and see how they’re made.) PS: to reviewer ang- I added wand pockets too, (on the contrast interfacing.)

Just finished the robe and top. Easy to follow directions and to make. My granddaughter is excited to be Hermione for Halloween.

My grandkids and I are enjoying reading through the HP books. They enjoy the "magic" and the imagination as I do. When they decided to be characters from the series for Halloween, I was thrilled. This pattern was easy to use. Took about a day per robe. I got really good material so I don't think I saved much over purchasing at Universal but I enjoyed making for my little ones.

Good pattern looks just like the image. Runs large. Child small fits more like a 9-10 not 6-8 xs size 4-5 fits more like a 6

I’m not an every day sewer and some of the instructions were very confusing. After talking with some other people who sew we were able to figure out the directions.

Despite my commentary, the items came just as expected and worked great. My only sadness is that it doesn't have a full lining, but that's easy to make and incorporate. Everything else was my own foolish inability to make piece with the sewing gods and thus had to do a lot of.....fixing.

Perfect for an adult gown (I didn't try to sew anything else as I didn't need it). Instructions were straightforward and relatively easy to follow. I'm short (5'2"), but a bit on the larger size, and had to modify the shoulders to get the size I wanted without it looking like a tent. It was easy to do and I didn't throw too many tantrums trying to figure it out. Overall, my Hufflepuff cosplay was great and I'm really pleased with this purchase!

My daughter, 14 made this for herself with little help required. Great instructions, great design, I love Simplicity patterns! Paired with the Simplicity Gryffindor Badge and the costume was perfect!

Wir haben mit dem Schnittmuster ein gutes Endergebnis hinbekommen, aber die Größen stimmen überhaupt nicht. Meine Tochter trägt Größe 44 bis 46, nach den Maßen auf der Packung wäre das L, nach den Rezensionen hier haben wir uns für M entschieden, aber das war immer noch zu groß. Die Ärmel musste ich nachträglich um je 8 cm in der Mitte kürzen, deswegen haben sie da jetzt eine Naht querrüber, siehe Foto, aber das fällt kaum auf. Die Kapuze rutscht vom Kopf, wenn man sich bewegt und verdeckt das halbe Gesicht. Die zu weite Schulterbreite habe ich durch die Platzierung des Verschlusses ein wenig korrigieren können. Ich habe den Mantel komplett gefüttert, statt nur solche Streifen aufzunähen. Das wirkt sehr edel und man braucht das Versteifungsmaterial nicht. So wie eine andere Kundin beschrieben hat, einen zweiten Umhang aus Futterstoff nähen und einnähen. Wir haben den Futterstoff unten nicht mit dem Mantelstoff vernäht, so wie das bei Mänteln üblich ist, damit man auch nachträglich noch an alle Nähte rankommt. Als Verschluss habe ich einen Posamentenverschluss genommen, weil wir einen sehr schweren Oberstoff haben und ich befürchtet hatte, es würde den Stoff punktuell zu sehr belasten, wenn ich nur 2 Knöpfe annähe. Mit dem Posamentenverschluss verteilt sich der Zug auf eine größere Fläche.

This pattern was perfect for making Harry Potter robes. Such a time saver rather than trying to make your own pattern based on pictures. Loved this purchase and loved the final product. Robes were extremely well made.
