I’d say some kind of plastic or vinyl material. **Q: Is this product fire retardant?** A: No, it is not fire retardant. I just called the company for fire retardant information and they returned my call and stated that this was not fire retardant. **Q: Would this be good for a 1/2 year old?** A: I would wait until they move a little better. It’s big and shifts when jumped on. My daughter was a year and a half when I purchased. **Q: Is it possible to get a replacement inner cover? We absolutely love our crash pad and use it daily.
