Very soft and warm but thin enough to be worn under jeans and other shirts or sweaters. I made sure every family member had more than enough warm clothes to get through the winter and got these for my 6 year old, they are amazing. I plan on getting these for both my son's now and will most likely repurchase in other sizes as they grow.
