Wonderful, earthy mushroom flavor.
This bag of mushrooms will last you a long time. I use them primarily when making Asian-inspired dishes. I love the earthy flavor they lend and the chew of the cooked mushrooms. Love them. I always soak them first, at the least for half an hour.

Review Up Your Cooking
Mushrooms are okay, but these make Chinese cuisine that much better. If you like Chinese food, rev it up a bit with these mushrooms. DELICIOUS!

Very good mushrooms
I really enjoy using sliced shiitakes with udon noodles, tofu, and scallions. I was paying quite the price from my local grocery store for individual 1oz packages of shiitakes. Also, the nearest Asian market is about 45 minutes away, so I thought I would take a chance ordering these online. The mushrooms are absolutely fine. They have an extremely earthy flavor, and rehydrated quite well. They aren't the most gourmet of shiitakes, as they are inconsistent in size, however I never use shiitakes whole because they are rather chewy, so this didn't matter to me. Are they the ideal shiitake with the caps that have perfect cracks on them? No. But for those you will pay a premium price.I have seen other reviews of this product where the people had a problem rehydrating the mushrooms. They rehydrated fine with a 30 minute soak in hot water. I'm wondering if the people that had issues with rehydration weren't familiar with shiitakes, in that the stems must be removed, and typically rehydrated shiitakes aren't cooked whole (even fresh ones are usually sliced because of their texture). The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that they aren't the perfect consistent sizes that you can get in some packages at Asian markets. Other than that, they were wonderful.

Make Room For These Shrooms...They're Keepers
Absolutely love these mushrooms. I cut them in half right before dropping them into some very slightly warm water to rehydrate them. I usually let them soak for 30 minutes to an hour. Sometimes I need to give them a good squeeze to get out any extra water from the soaking. After that, they cook up and absorb flavors perfectly. The finished consistancy is just what I wanted.

Rubbery and flavorless
No matter how long I soak them or how fine I mince them, they’re rubbery with no flavor. They’re not worth it.
