For Such a Time as This: Stories of Women from the Bible, Retold for Girls

This is exactly what I was looking for, it's the stories of the bible told in a very biblical but easy to understand way, of all of the amazing women in the bible. The book is about an inch thick. The illustrations are amazing and it even has a purple bookmark inside. This is exactly what I was looking for, to share the women of the bible with my children!

Great for adults and kids (perfect for mother/daughters) to read together and go over the review sections at the end of each story. I especially enjoyed learning a new Hebrew or Greek word along with each section at the end.

This book is written with Mothers and Daughters in mind since it highlights stories of women in the Bible. However, I really believe the whole family can enjoy and benefit from it. The book is formatted so you read the story then have a truth about God, a focus, prayer to pray for and over your child and then verse. Since my kids are older I read them the story and then all three of the other sections I just modified the prayer for them to say. In general, just a beautiful book, full of love, encouragement and Biblical truth. I would recommend 7 or 8 years old and up.

This is my favorite gift to young girls. I love this book as an adult and am going to share it with my ladies Bible study group bc it is great for new believers. Beautiful illustrations and where else can you get over 40 women in one place! Both my daughters learned to read and enjoyed this book from then on out. I used to leave it in the bathroom book basket and my daughter’s teen friend even asked for a copy of her own! It is that good! And now they are grown and doing Angie’s seamless study! Which is my all time favorite for teens and women! Buy it you will not be disappointed and you will want a copy for yourself so get extra!

This book is just so beautiful - the illustrations, the stories, the prayers for your daughter, everything! I bought this for my oldest niece (who is 10) and purchased another, thinking to save it for my daughter when she's older. However, my little 3 year old has decided its for her now. She loves the images and I read short portions of her favorite characters and pray the prayers over her! We both enjoy this book so much!

Beautiful book! I love the pictures. I took this as a girls camp counselor to kids church camp. The girls loved it!

This book has some of the names of women in the bible. But it only writes about the women that seem to have famous men surrounding them. And it focuses more on the men than the women. I'm keeping it, as it does have a few hebrew words in it, and some prayers at the end if each story. I was a little sad that the perspective didnt focus more on the womans perspective or flesh out the womans story more. And I feel it left out a LOT of very strong female characters from the Bible. Over all it is nice, but not as in depth or enlightening as I had hoped.

We LOVE this book! I have read Woven by Angie Smith so when I saw this I got it for my daughter. We read it every night. I can imagine we will read it again.

It’s a fantastic book. My daughter loves it. She adores the pictures in it and does ask lot of questions about characters and clothes they are wearing... love to share and talk to her about it...

I would have personally preferred if the whole book was in colour, there are a number or sketches that are black and white with a sort of 'under construction' feel. That being said, the book is still beautiful and gives attention to all of the women of the Bible, not just the main features. I named my daughter Lydia so I love that we can read her story together as she gets older. There is also a beautiful dedication page to leave a note to her. Overall this is a beautiful mother and daughter book for the two of us and I'd recommend it.

I was so excited to find this book for my 9 year old daughter who is a feminist in her own making. I wanted to show her that the bible is NOT all about men. I was SO DISAPOINTED with this book. Almost every story starts with the same old men of Sunday school stories. Each story briefly talks about the woman of the story but certainly doesn't focus on her. The biblical reflections at the end of the story often don't follow with the story either and certainly don't show young women anything special about their specific signifacance to God. SO DISAPOINTING!
