My new favorite sunscreen
I bought this sunscreen for a trip to Hawaii since it is reef safe. Itโs expensive, but a little goes a long way. I bought two tubes of sunscreen for our family of four for a week at the beach. We mostly used it on our faces. My son has very sensitive skin, and most sunscreens cause him to breakout. We have been using Badger sunscreen for a few years, but after trying the Kokua sunscreen, my kids both declared that it was their new favorite sunscreen. It rubs in easily with no white cast, no oily residue and no breakouts or rashes. (Hint: use a tiny dab and rub it in all the way. If you use too much, it does leave a little white cast. On the plus side, I could tell if my kids missed any spots on their faces after applying it.) I highly recommend purchasing this sunscreen! Itโs good for your skin and for the environment! Itโs also easy to apply makeup over it. So if you are reading this review, stop reading and buy it! Youโll be glad you did! I also bought a konjac sponge to remove the sunscreen at the end of the day. The konjac sponges make it super easy to remove. I love, love, love this sunscreen!

Outstanding Sunscreen
I just came back from a trip in the Italian Alps during which I used this as my main sunscreen, and I did not get the merest hint of tan, despite doing outdoor activities all day. I even spent a day swimming outdoors, and didnโt get even a little hint of sun. This stuff, when applied and reapplied properly, really works. Its biggest downside to me is that itโs a bit greasy. But most water resistant sunscreens are a bit greasy, so thatโs an acceptable tradeoff for me. I have fair/light skin, and the sunscreen left almost no white cast on me. It didnโt have a discernible scent, it rubs in pretty quickly, and it doesnโt leave white mineral residue on your clothes, despite having 25% non-nano zinc oxide. Itโs on the pricier side, but Iโm willing to pay for an effective sunscreen that I donโt cringe to put on, and this one fits all of my requirements. I will keep repurchasing.

Our new go-to sunscreen!
I bought your sunscreen on Amazon and wanted to give you some props. My last visit to Hawaii I had a zinc oxide lotion that even though I was happy to use a lotion that was environmentally safe, the sunscreen was thick and would not fully rub in. Previously, my family loved a sheer spray that fit all of our needs, easy on my wifeโs sensitive skin, easily applied and a very light feel. Hawaiian law enlightened us about the serious harm of chemical lotions. We accepted that mineral sunscreens were necessary and a responsible action to take to preserve our reefs and ocean wildlife. Researching mineral sunscreens, we saw recommendations for products and decided to try Kokua for four reasons. Reviews claimed Kokua went on light, left little to no white sheen, nourishing for the skin and was made in Hawaii. We have found our new go to sunscreen thanks to Kokua Skin Care. Thank you for a product that protects us, protects our ocean environment and gives peace of mind on both counts. We are also happy to support a Hawaiian company. My family has many awesome memories of our trips to the islands. We had a birthday trip planned for Maui one month after the Lahaina fires. People were telling us not to go but we knew that we needed to responsibly support the people affected. On island we still were able to have our celebration while also attending fundraisers and making donations. I met a displaced elderly woman at a prominent hotelโs lobby in Wailea, as she told me of her experience, she began to cry. I held her, hugging her I told her I was sorry for her loss and let her expel her sorrow. I have always respected Hawaii and its people, Hawaii is not an amusement park, Hawaii is a blessing to be cherished. I wish you success and good luck in your business. Please support the islands as you grow. I will be with my family on the Big Island as we celebrate my wifeโs 60th bday in August and we will be doing our part, wearing Kokua sunscreen. Ua ola loko i ke aloha!

So far, the best of the mineral sunscreens. Good for winter use.
To date, I have tried 4 popular mineral sunscreens, trying to get away from iffy chemicals. All of them are greasy and the worst of them are uncomfortable to wear in the heat. This one is no exception, but at least it is in a lotion form, so it is easy to apply. If you rub it in your skin long enough, it will lose most of its white color. I found it hard to remove--my skin felt waxy despite washing vigorously with soap and water multiple times over 2 days. However, I didn't get sunburned or even tanned on a sunny day, so it seems to do the job. I will confine my use of it to sunny winter days, when you need that greasy layer to help protect your skin against the cold.

Great product all around
Thick and a little hard to spread but it has great coverage, does not leave you a ghost, and protects from the sun great even when in the water. Used this to go snorkeling in Bahia, as well as hiking in the desert. No complaints! I just mixed with a smidge of lotion and it was perfect. Also very environmentally friendly to wear in the ocean!

Great stuff. Reef safe, comfortable, no sting, no burn. I surf. I'm 50.
Great stuff. Reef safe, comfortable, no sting, no burn. I surf. I'm 50. My ratings are in the context of what I have used and tried. Oh, I've tried. I surf in a wetsuit in lower Northern CA and use it on my face all around my eyes and it doesn't sting. I've had a hard time finding ones that didn't sting the eyes. Some are terrible, the better ones are better, and this one is great. Right up there with another natural muddy product from Australia that I use. I especially apply to cheek bones, nose, forehead - the sun catching shelves on your face. Yes, we get plenty of sun in Nor Cal. I'm typically in the water 2 to 3 hours. You gotta apply something and this one feels the most neutral of any I have used. It feels fine and not bothersome. I forget I have it on unlike others that feel like something is on your skin and demands your attention. At the end of a session I just towel off my face and all good. I don't feel the compulsion to wash it off and my skin is totally fine if I don't. Actually, it seems less dry. Way different than most I tried. I have semi sensitive skin and am very picky about what I apply, especially on my face. I generally only post if I really like stuff or dont like it at all. My advice. Try it. Great stuff.

If you're TAN SKINNED (NC35 or Fenty 320), this will show up a bit white on your skin.
I usually wear a regular spf30 sunscreen back home, but I'm currently deployed in the Middle East, so I wanted to try out a zinc sunscreen for once. And walking around in the 120F desert just means I need a good, spf50, sweat-resistant sport sunscreen as opposed to a regular face sunscreen that easily melts off and stings my eyes. What I like about this sunscreen is that I dont feel that burning feeling when I walk out into the sun with regular chemical sunscreens you find in the regular superstores, and it has a very natural kinda nutty smell. No perfume flowery coconut smells. It also really holds up fairly well on particularly extreme heat days where my face is dripping with sweat. I find that it doesn't spread very easily like your regular water-based lotion, but I figured that's just the nature of a zinc-based sunscreen. It's a little difficult putting it on your face though as there is a bit of tugging involved to try and apply it everywhere. IF YOU ARE LIGHT TAN (like a Fenty 320 or like an NC35), REMEMBER THAT LESS IS MORE. The white cast on my face was pretty noticeable when I first tried applying this sunscreen like a regular lotion. After a little trial and error I figured out less really is more, and even though the white cast is there initially, it goes away after a while as opposed to when i first started using it. It also feels like this sunscreen kind of saps away the moisture in my face cause at the end of the day after applying this regularly every 2-ish hours, my face starts feeling tight in a few places. The bottle is also a bit smaller than you'd think. Anyway, I'm gonna assume as a regular beach-use sunscreen, it's pretty good! It does feel pretty water resistant, and my skin does feel protected from the sun. But for my specific uses in the desert, I don't think it quite works out for me.

The best sunscreen I've ever used!!
I bought both the tinted and non-tinted versions, and I love them both! I use the non-tinted version when I do yard work and the tinted version when I go in public. I've searched high and low for sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast, and I finally found it (with the tinted version.) I signed up for auto ship, I can't live without this stuff! I love that I can wear both under makeup, and it leaves my skin dewy and fresh. It does not break me out and leaves my skin healthy and smooth to the touch. Note: it *will* attract animal hair within the first hour, so I would suggest waiting to snuggle your fur kids. Aside from that, it's absolutely purrfect for my complexion (light-medium, mid-40's.) I rarely write reviews unless I'm really impressed with a product. I felt compelled to spread the word about this wonderful sunscreen! A bonus that it's reef safe!! โค๏ธ P.S. with any and all sunscreen, it's recommended to reapply every 2 hours. I do that, and I've never got burned, and my age spots have not darkened. Woo hoo!
