My husband and I have always purchased Ryman Setters for his bird hunting--and in fact purchased our second English Setter from Lisa and Cliff Weise, years ago. The breed is very gentle and make great house pets, if you are so inclined. But mainly, when properly bred, are excellent hunters and are as enthusiastic about being in the coverts as are the hunters!

My Husband received this as a Christmas book. Once he started reading it, he couldn't put it down. He said it is one of the best bird dog book written. A lot of facts he didn't even know. Highly recommended.

If your a lover of the Ryman-type English setter this book is a must have. Full of pics and info on the history of the Ryman-type setter and stories of grouse hunting with them in the Appalachia mountains.

This was a Christmas gift for my father. I read a few pages Christmas Day and can see why he enjoys this quiet, spiritual and lyric writer.

The book was very informative for anybody who has owned or hunted over Ryman Setters. The illustrations were as beautiful as the dogs are in real life.
