Initially, it seemed to be an improvement but, as I added more books, the more I began to hate it and it has twice been close to learning to fly and may yet eventually lead to its demise. What I like. - Not much at all as the old model does all of the useful things faster, easier more positive and more logical even with the switches showing signs of wearing out. What I dislike.... The touch screen. It is probably ok for small fingers with long nails but I find it unpredictable and slow. The book cover images which waste space even with the single line option. Single lines, 10 to a page and numbered pages are way better than finger tip scrolling even if you have the right fingers to make it work. The "Help" and suggestion features are nothing better than annoying and pointless. Whatever happened to the "Go to" feature which was one of the most useful features. If it has this I haven't been able find it. The reaction to some finger tip actions is often so slow as to leave one wondering if it needs to be repeated. Holding it securely in one hand tends to disable the touch screen to such an extent that I have dropped it on several occasions while trying to get a response. UPDATE. After a few difficult weeks I have updated the rating to 1 * . It really is that bad. It is fine for the reading part but the rest is utter chaos. The touch screen interface is damned near unusable and I have given up trying to download any more books as all I get is "Queued" . in settings it shows as connected to the router but the only option offered is to forget/break the connection and then restart with the password. Review: Light and compact - Overall I’m enjoying using this Kindle. However it’s taken time to get used to the very compact size (I was using a Kindle Fire before). It has malfunctioned after only a few weeks - a book I purchased would not download until I reset. After switching it off and then on all was fine. It is small and I’m still getting used to turning pages much more frequently. I do love how light and easy to carry it is. Been using the kindle app on my phone for years but thought this might help with my focus (stopping me getting distracted by notifications). That works, the reading screen is also better as less blue light. So its good for me to use before bedtime. It also works in the dark so better than a real book when other person is sleeping. Downsides: the searching and browsing is truely awful. It's so slow to download and is really a pretty clunky piece of software.
