Great for Cub Scouts
I purchased several of these kits for use teaching Cub Scouts their "Whittlin' Chip" award, and they worked great for that purpose. Before starting, I opened all the kits and put a dull edge on the plywood knife blades using a bench-mount belt sander. The boys opened their kits and laid out all the pieces, to learn the real parts of a working knife. They then assembled their kits and learned how to handle a knife and open and close it safely. Next, we used sanding blocks as "whetstones" to put a sharp edge on the knife blades. We then used the sharped wooden blades for soap carving! It was a great activity, the boys learned how to handle working knives, and no parents were stressed out.

Good value for the price
For the $7.99 I paid for this item, I am very pleased with it. My 4 year old is thrilled that he finally has his own knife for camping. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that it tends to slide apart easily when he is opening and closing it, I think I'll try a drop of wood glue on each of the pins that holds it together and see if that helps. We are also going to file the edges a bit and give the blade a slight taper to the edge, not enough to try to cut with but to make it more realistic. For a cool and fun gift, this one was worth the money spent.

Wonderful toy for boys
This knife kit is a terrific toy for adventurous little boys. My 2 boys (age 7 and 9) love them. They seem to be good quality and assebly is pretty easy. The kids had a good time putting them together with their dad. And my oldest was proud of the fact it was made in America. Very cute for the price.

A Must for Bear Cub Scout Dens!
LOVE THESE!I bought a bunch of these kits for a Cub Scout project. Bears must learn safe knife handling skills. What better way to do so than with a fully functioning pocket knife with virtually none of the risk associated with a steel blade. The blunt edge carved a bar of Ivory soap with no effort, and a solid sanding block doubled as a whet stone when demonstrating the proper technique with a whet stone. Each of our boys earned their whittling chip and bear claw beltloop using these kits and had a great little souvenir following the meeting. A must have for Bear (third grade) Den Leaders!

JJs Trapper Knife Kit
My grandson wanted thjs knife and was so excited when he got it. When we put it together we could only get two holes lined up. we still can't l them aligned no matter which of the three holes we try.

Nice little wooden knife
My son loved it. It was simple to put together and the unfinished wood leaves some options if he wants to customize it himself. Looks nice, works like it should and he's proud to carry it around.
