really good at shredding letters that you need to discard of safely. you need to cut vertical and then horizontal to get a good cut. if you try to cut in a straight line more than once it just rips. but they are good at cutting up personal letters quickly to dispose of in the recycle and your personal info is all gone.

They do the job but don't expect to shred 3 or 4 pages at once. Two sheets max and then only in small sections. They jam up really easily too so you need to find a way of clearing the scraps without cutting your fingers! One annoying thing is that you cant do multiple cuts... so with normal scissors you can go snip snip snip and work your way across a long sheet of paper. With these, the first snip is good, second snip is acceptable, then you have to stop and clear them out. It's a slow way to shred paper but passes the tine while waiting for lockdown to be lifted.

Hard to sure rather buy an electric shredder

I ordered these to avoid cluttering my tiny workspace with an electric shredder. They work surprisingly well; the blades are sharp and cut 2-3 layers of paper without effort. The plastic grips are comfortable to hold. I wish the blades were an inch longer, though (these are 3 inches). If I open the jaws wider than is comfortable, I can just cut across a standard-width till receipt, but if I do that, the individual lines on the receipt are still easily read. If it's something I really want thoroughly shredded I cross-cut it, which creates very tiny bits of paper. If I try to cut more than a couple layers of paper, the cuts get caught between the blades, making it harder to cut. It's not easy to cut all the way across a large sheet of paper with five blades.So if you have no space in your room, and enough time in your day to cut up single sheets using several passes, these are great.

I bought these specifically for shredding personal details torn off of document as a result of a previous reviewers comments. They work great on paper and will no doubt blunt over time and frequent use but it is quicker than shredding piles of A3 documents of which only a square inch relates it to me. Only 2 3 litre tubs of paper to go!

Great value. I brought them to use instead of shredding. Does the trick & doesn’t take up room like my old shredder!

I think these are great value for money. Each blade is unexpectedly sharp, and the scissors are sturdy enough to last several years, I would image. I use them for not shredding but 'confettiing' my address and personal details on discarded mail. They have worked hard and are still sharp. For those preparing herbs, they are no more difficult to clean than any other 10 bladed tool, use a brush.
