Can a single slot be mixed with pellets and flakes to feed at the same time?

Yes - I've put both pellets and flakes in a single slot and it dispensed them fine.

The timer is working, but the food compartment is not moving at all and therefore, no food is pushed into the tank. Any suggestions?

I set the timer for 9 am and 9 pm. No movement occurs until 9 pm rolls around. Then, SLOWLY, over two plus hrs the compartment with food moves over the hole. Could that be the case for you? Also, check to be sure food isn't restricting movement in some way. I feed algae tabs to my pleco. I must break up some of them.

Can it be programmed to dispense every other day?

YES YOU CAN. If you set it up with 1 pin it will move the feed ring once a day. So in the case that you want it to feed once every other day, just put food in every other bin using only 1 pin at desired feeding time. There are 14 usable bins since one is always over the dump hole....meaning in the above scenario you would still get 14 days worth, but feeding only 7 of those days. Using various appropriate food bins matched with appropriate pin/pins, You can also feed 1x a day for 14 days, or 2x a day for 7 days....and so on.

How does this work...how do i set it to serve 14 meals ...1 a day ?

There are 14 total slots that can rotate once a day. We typically feed our fish 3 pellets in the morning and 3 at night, so you can either set it up to do multiple feedings(3 pellets in each slot) (if you choose 2 times a day, it feeds up to 7 days 14/2=7 a day) or just once a day (6 pellets in each slot) (14 days). There is plenty of room in the slots for way more food!
