Reliable scale with good app, decently priced
I’ve had this scale since August. And I recommend this product. Body weight is accurate and reliable. Fat/lean mass composition might be inaccurate (vs DEXA scan), but like with any scale, use these numbers for tracking trends. Don’t live and die by the actual body fat numbers. It’s very easy to set up with a phone. I have an iPhone 15 Pro. (Tip: Don’t panic if the numbers don’t sync immediately. Just give it a few moments or just press the bluetooth button after the weigh in to sync the latest readings. Also, you’ll find the next day that you use it, it will just sync all the readings it has locally stored but hasn’t transmitted to your phone.) Body weight measurement is very consistent and reliable. You will rarely have moments where the number changes after consecutive weigh ins. And sometimes that will have more to do with feet placement, body movement/positioning while the scale is “reading” your weight, and floor evenness. Yes, during dryer seasons the scale will throw a reading error. But I fixed that issue by just wetting my feet and then drying it a little on the bathroom rug. It’s not a product issue but just the nature of the technology. Also, wipe/clean your scales occasionally. Body composition (fat/lean mass and percentage) is not accurate. I train 6 times a week and have had 2 DEXA scans (not NHANES calibrated). I’ve noticed that the Omron scale for me is about 5 percentage points off compared to my scans. But interestingly, the body fat percentage reading is about ~1 percentage point off the DEXA reading of the body fat in my legs. (I’m female and bottom heavy.) This makes sense because it’s running the current up to my legs from my feet and I don’t think it’s able to tell what my body fat is in the top half of my body. Like with any home scale (even body fat readings like DEXA scan), you’ll never get a perfectly accurate reading of fat/lean composition and there’s always a margin of error. Home scales will definitely have a larger margin especially if you’re athletic/train a lot and if your body fat distribution is not “average” — both are very much my case. So use the readings for tracking progress, and don’t sweat the details. Added screenshots of the app to show how helpful and clean the app is too. This is what I mean by tracking trends over numbers.

Great scales.
Excellent scales that give you lots of information which syncs easily to the Omron app. The app is very good and just works, so all round a great buy.

Excellent Scales - and accurate useful information
I bought this scales as it was on offer but I was looking for one of these anyway having already gotten the Omron Evolv Blood Pressure monitor, then this is part of the same ecosystem. OK, being a fatso, a word of warning, this scales only reads up to 150Kg which is 23 stones and 6 lb in old school English money, (it reads Stones and Kg) so if you are a little overweight and have a high BMI this will max out at that, that means like me you'll need to lose a bit of weight for it to start to work, kind of ironic that it has an upper limit if you want to use it as weight tracking aid... Onto its functions, it connects to the Omron app fine, I don't think I am getting the smoothness that it should but it updates to the app fine. In my App ecosystem, I have Google Fit which will read the data from this device but not the Blood Pressure Monitor, (which is a separate device not included) apparently you need some sort of Google Approved key to write BP data to Google Fit and Omron, isn't probably a big enough company to get such a key (!) rollseyes... the data then transfers through Google fit to Myfitnesspal as well which is really handy. You must use it on a flat hard floor, if you have any of the weight sensors on each corner not fully on the floor then you will have a bad reading, I have a tiled floor, which has small ridges in it so I have to check they are all down correctly or it will read incorrect. Additionally, in the pictures it shows that the scales is stored on its side, this too is a no-no why it shows it I don't know but it must be stored flat as it does little checks on its own now and again, and on its side it doesn't like it. If you have any implanted medical devices, and specifically a pacemaker this one is not for you, it analyses your body composition with a small electrical current, it probably tries to find your electrical resistance and that will disturb any implanted devices so its a no go for you. Fortunately I haven't got any bionics so for me I am good to go. Finally on its accuracy, then its good, I had a medical shortly after purchase and the data I got from this was almost identical to the readings at the medical centre so you can use it with confidence.

Accuracy guaranteed with the Omron Viva.
First Body Composition Monitor and scale. As I was already using Going Fit set up was very easy and straight forward with all data immediately transferred and updated. Manual set up was equally as straight forward for my partner who does not use Google fit or have a smart phone currently; any one in this position is best advised to check and right down your personal details for easy access when completing manual entry. Most important is the accuracy of information entered as all calculations will be based on this to produce accurate and meaningful results. DOB, Gender, Height (get these wrong for vanity or any other reason and results will be rubbish). All you need to do now is stand on your scale on a hard surface an not carpets or soft flooring and in a few seconds your weight will be displayed on the screen. Other information will also be displayed that can be written down if your not using the Bluetooth connection or transferred within seconds to your device if you do have one connected. Having read reviews before my purchase of the Omron Viva a number of reviewers were concerned about accuracy, this can easily be achieved by using the guest option entering dummy data as on this occasion you are only weighing to confirm accuracy for your own piece of mind, when asked to add weight (stand on the Scale) add any fairly heavy item of a known weight. I used a container filled with tins that I had previously calculated the weigh of and when lowered on the scale the weight displayed on the scale was identical to my calculated weight of tins and bottles. Very accurate. As advises I weigh my self at the same time every day for the best and most accurate results, it's no good eating or drinking before you weigh and wonder why the results are not identical. There will of course be instances where the scale is not accurate such as when used by athletes, body builders who will require specialist equipment to achieve the results provided by the Omron Viva however for most people these scales and composition monitor will produce good accurate results when used in conjunction with the manufacturers instruction manual that is also clear and easy to read. In my opinion this is a very good and easy first body composition monitor to use and manufactured by a large company you can trust. P.s if using the connect app you can also use the app to easily combine results from other OMRON products enabling personal health details to be forwarded to your health professionals for detailed analysis on you self monitoring. Really good piece of equipment when purchased at the right price as this does seem to vary considerably.

Losses connection to the App
Purchased roughly 5 months ago, I was initially impressed. But all that changed when, three months in, it lost the Bluetooth connection to the app and totally refused to re-connect. On consultation with the help desk, all I managed to get from them was to remove and re-install the app. The idea of having a smart scale automatically sync with an app appealed to me. I would not have to write down all the stats from the device. Until 2 months ago this unit has been synced with both my android phone and tablet. Now it will not connect to any of my 5 Bluetooth devices. I have lost count of the number of times I’ve been asked to remove and re-install the app, including clearing the cache and getting the device to forget its Bluetooth settings before setting the device into pairing mode. At one point, the help desk sent me information on how to connect my Blood Pressure Monitor. That’s when I started to give up hope. I’m trying to connect a set of scales! Omron Tech Support have confirmed that there is no factory reset for the scales, only to remove and replace the batteries. This allows it to keep a certain amount of data. As a set of stand-alone scales, the Omron Viva works well. As for the Bluetooth connectivity, it fails every time, even with the latest version of the Omron Connect app (7.14.0) For this reason, I do not recommend these scales.

Works well , looks smart.
These look smart and work well, setup was easy, readings sync via Bluetooth to an app on your phone, this is automatic, occasionally does not work if your phone is out of range but can also be manually synched. Can be set up for 4 users + guest. Recognises users based on weight, for us two with quite different weights this works ok. Can’t comment on how this works if several of you are very similar weight, there is the option if it incorrectly recognises you to store the weight reading against another user. Overall happy. With my purchase.

The best smart scales on the market.
Works flawlessly and provides meaningful, accurate data through the OMRON Connect app. The set-up was simple and it connected instantly to the app. The OMRON Viva smart scales also look smart and fit in with more households and their decor. I’ve had mine for over a year and I would recommend them to anyone over a no-name Chinese brand product or the Withings smart scales that I previously owned.

An excellent smart body scale
An excellent smart body scale. You can use the scale without the App, but for the history of your measurements, you need the Omron Connect App on your smartphone. First, install the batteries on the device, then download and install the Omron Connect App, then create an account with username and password if not already done, then open the App with Bluetooth activated, then switch on the Omron device, then register the device FROM WITHIN the Omron Connect App. Do NOT register the device from within the smartphone's Bluetooth feature; it won't work. Every time you use the device, you open the Omron Connect App with Bluetooth activated and start the measurement. After you open the App with Bluetooth activated, you step on the scale, then once the measurement is complete, you push the button SET on the scale and the synchronization with the App occurs. The scale shuts off automatically or you can shut it off by long-pressing the button ON/OFF on the scale. The scale measurement will NOT sync with the Omron Connect App if you don't confirm the measurement by pressing the SET button on the scale. The pressing of the SET button is required because this is a family/multi-user device on which several people can be registered; therefore the device needs to know whom the measurement belongs to before syncing the measurement result with the Omron Connect App. For accurate measurements, the scale must be placed on a flat, steady and hard surface. Avoid placing it on carpets or rugs. Read the manual carefully before any use.
