Topeak D-Torq Wrench DX

This torque wrench seems of good quality and accuracy. However, it's expensive for a small tiny torque wrench. It's mostly for small jobs like bicycles and small bolts but very much needed when dealing with carbon fiber and aluminum parts so you don't end up cracking or braking them by using too much force or torque. The only thing though, I didn't know it's for hex bits and only found out later after I got it. So the solution? I just bought a 1/4" inch Hex to square adapter so that it work like a regular ratchet and accept 1/4" inch sockets. (Note: The bigger size wrench does come with an square which is 3/8" inch. It's only this smaller 1/4" 1-20 Nm that comes as a Hex ratchet.) The description and pictures don't mention this so pay attention and ask before you buy. Lastly, for such an expensive wrench it only has a warning beep when it should have warning lights also. I found out that similar small wrenches from another brands like "Solude" have warning lights & sound and cost considerably less.

I got the wrench and it is simple to use, it comes with one AA battery and instructions and a nice case. The case holds the wrench and the bits tightly and protects the wrench. The wrench is so easy to use. It is reversible for those left hand threads. This is one of the few that I could find that will go as low as 2 newton-meters for working on some parts of bicycles. The wrench will beep as you get to the setting. It works well that way. You can look at the digital display while you are using it and see when the beep occurs. But the beep works will for those many times when you can't see the display. All the bits are nice, nothing extra special. It comes with calibration paperwork from the factory calibration. I think it said +/- 2% or maybe even lower. Really nice.

It worked great for the first few weeks. However, after a couple of months, it no longer functions.

I’m not used to the size. This is the first small torque range I’ve used. It looks high quality. I don’t know if like the magnetized bits. I’m an old dog and don’t want to learn any new tricks.Use-wise it works as advertised. I appreciate the common battery type. I had another digital torque wrench that used an uncommon battery and it was incredibly annoying to buy odd batteries.

Much better than non-digital torque wrenches. More accurate and precise. Inspires confidence and ensures consistency. Well worth the extra cost.

Very precise Use on my carbon bikes. Reason for 4 stars is that you the attachemnts are short and no extensions. Cannot get into some seatpost recessed screws and have to,use an onld mechaical model,that will accept extensions. I comapred the digital readout to my analogue wrenches and the analoges were off 25% on average comparecto this unit. I like the sound indicator- you dont have to look at the gague to know when youmhit your torque.

This is my first review on Amazon and i'm writing it because this product is that good. I recently bought my first carbon fiber road bike and was using my old allen wrenches to make adjustments on the seat, handlebars, brakes, etc. Fortunately, i learned early that carbon fiber bikes require adherence to the torque standards set for the various bike components. I did my research and bought the Topeak D-Torq Wrench DX and it's been great! It's really easy to use, can switch easily between the three main measurement units and has all the attachments necessary for most, maybe all, bikes. It has my complete endorsement. I have used it several times in the few weeks that I have owned it and can't imagine owning a carbon fiber bike without it.

Much lighter than other torque wrenches, the main reason for purchase. That and it’s ability to torque in either direction. I don’t like the idea of corrosion within the electronics from leaving battery’s in the wrench, the beep is nice when alone and quiet but outside at a race or other venue and it easily goes unnoticed. Also, the setting of the torque value is tedious and finicky. Don’t accidentally switch scales when setting the torque and under/over tighten the bolt either.

The item is well packed and shipped fast by seller. It works as advertised, although looks a bit worn out and there are signs the packaging has been opened before. Overall happy with this purchase and product functions.
