I ordered the "Porter" colored opener which is depicted as a solid dark color, however the opener I received was lighter and had the stripes, looking exactly like the "Pilsner" color. The packaging had a sticker marked "Porter", so not sure what the deal is with that other than it didn't arrive looking like I expected. I didn't feel like dealing with any sort of exchange and it still looks pretty cool so I just went with it. I mounted this to the wall, but where I wanted it had no studs nearby. So, I had to go out and buy drywall anchors since they weren't included. Actually, I wasn't even sure if it is recommended to mount this opener with drywall anchors since there are literally no directions included with this opener other than a simple diagram showing to switch out the screw that hold the metal opener part to the longer screws to be used for wall mounting. I even checked their website but it provided no additional answers for wall mounting. Soooo, I hoped for the best and just purchased some hefty rating anchors (rated to hold 143lbs, since I didn't want to get too weak of anchors and eventually have the whole thing rip out of the wall). So far so good, as I've had this hanging for about a week, it has had plenty of use, and it's still snugly adhered to the wall. I've never used a mounted opener before so the first few beers it was a bit unnerving, as you reall have to tilt them very horizontally and I was worried they would spill out all over when the cap came off. Well, they don't, so I got over that pretty quick. Overall I recommend but just be aware that the finish you ordered based on the photo may not be the finish you receive.

I bought this as a gift for my brother-in-law for Christmas and it was a big hit. The overall body of the DropCatch is very sturdy (it is a solid piece of wood....) and it is very nicely finished with routed edges and a beautiful coat of stain. The metal opener is a very shiny stainless steel piece that displays the DropCatch name. We gave him this gift while on vacation in Florida and the DropCatch was used easily over 100 times over the week. The magnets on this thing are STRONG. It very securely attaches to the refrigerator making for a very convenient bottle opening experience. The magnetic power easily translates to the front side of the opener as well as the DropCatch easily held the advertised 60 bottle caps with ease. Some longer screws are included in the box as well for those that wish to wall mount this somewhere, but it seems like my BIL will be using this primarily as a fridge mounted product.Overall, this is a great product and was a big hit as a gift. I often have trouble finding gifts for folks but I think this is easily a go to gift for friends and family. It is very unique and fun, and puts a bit of a twist to a normal wall mounted opener with the ability to catch the caps. Yes, this is more expensive than buying a $10-$20 wall mounted opener and just screwing it up to the wall, but for the clean look and magnetic catch function of this product, it can easily be put in any home without disrupting the look of the room. Go ahead and buy one as a gift, after you see the beauty of this thing and see the joy and amazement in your giftee's eyes, you'll want one of your own (I know I did).

Lets face it: bottle caps are a nuisance.The Dropcatch is fantastic. Before, my lazy roommates had strewn bottle caps across the entire house. Bottle openers were constantly getting lost, leading to creative ways of opening beers (lets just say my coffee table will never be the same). Since purchasing it, that has all disappeared. The cool factor of it means that everyone has to try it out when they come by. The magnets hold the opener on the fridge perfectly. No movement at all.Two minor nitpicks:1) The magnet is so strong that when a cap is pulled onto the bare wood, it damages the finish. Not a big deal to me, as I like a patina being built. If you have a small square of aluminum laying around, it could probably solve this problem.2) I worry that the magnets will eventually lead to my fridge being scratched. The big magnet is covered in epoxy, but the little ones are not. Maybe a felt backing would be nice for the next iteration?All in all I would buy this again... and I have. Its now my go to gift for the beer drinkers in my life.

Finally, I don't have to find the wine-cork-thing or my key ring to open up beer bottles for myself and my friends. This is a totally elegant and useful tool to stick on the fridge, and it's gotten a lot of compliments. It gets four stars for reasons that don't bother me but might bother other people: 1. the magnet on the back that is in place to catch the bottle caps is kind of sloppily glued in there. If it ever pops out, it wouldn't be a difficult chore to glue back in. 2. The magnet that holds it to your fridge is strong, but it's not atomic-strong. You can't exert a neanderthal-amount of pressure on the opener, or the whole wood plaque will shift upwards and knock your other fridge adornments onto the floor. With responsible/regular use, this isn't a problem-- you can open bottles one-handed/you don't need to "hold" it in place.In summary: buy this one, it's worth the money.

Love it, love it! Actually I gave these as gifts this past Christmas to all the men in the family... and we loved it so much, I had to have one myself. It is super looking; my wood piece is a little lighter in color than the one shown, but with nice darker wood grain. We have ours on the side of the fridge, so I did not install or use the screws that were enclosed. It did, however, have tiny little rubber feet to stick on the back to protect the surface. The magnet is so strong, it takes 2 hands to pull it off. And the bottle caps...you can literally hold one a few inches away and feel the pull!. Great gadget, and fun...best of all I will no longer have a drawer full of bottle caps, as my family opens the bottle over the drawer and lets it drop in. And they are convinced I want to save all those caps! get one of these fun openers! And I got NO discount or freebies on this item.
