Big Book of Mead Recipes: Over 60 Recipes From Every Mead Style (Let There be Mead!) Review: Perfect book of just recipes - This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm a scientist, so I appreciate the necessity of learning all the ins and outs of fermentation, but it seems most books are just exhaustive reference books of the science, which is great if you want to know how to develop your own recipes. But as a beginner I just want some recipes to make which I'm pretty sure will turn out good, so gradually I can build my skill. After all, when many meads take a year or more to age, you don't want to start out with something completely experimental. This book is what it says it is, a recipe book. There are a few pages of critical information at the start, then the rest is recipes in different categories. This has enough recipes to keep me happy for many years, I'm sure. Thank you! Review: Good recipes - The wife and I recently took up bee keeping and to use the excess honey we decided to expand our mead selection we keep. What better way then make it ourselves. The recipes are easily to read and understand. We have already put a few to use and they are currently aging.

Can make a good addition to you mead book collection.
As pointed out in previous reviews the page numbers don't match the table of content but they are in the same order as in the table of content. Though inconvenient it is still possible to find the info quickly. The book devotes just a few pages (at most) on history, what mead is, and techniques/process of making mead. Thus, this book wouldn't be the best for a stand alone mead book compared to others like The Compleat Mead Maker by Ken Schramm, or The Complete Guide to Making Mead by Steve Piatz. However the Big Book of Mead Recipes makes a good companion or addition to those previous books on mead for the recipes. If you have been making mead for awhile and are comfortable with making your own recipes the book probably won't offer much other than you may find the recipes in this book as more of a source for inspirations or ideas for your next batch. If you just started your mead making journey this book will be more of value if you have the previous mention books on mead.

Best mead book out there
This is, in my opinion, the best mead book out there and I own all I can find. The author has a method for making mead that is foolproof . It has just the right number of recipes and many links on where to find the necessary equipment. As I write this review, I am buying another book for a new mead convert !

A lot of recipes, with precise amounts. A shopping list for the first time mead maker.
What a great mead making book. Better than the first one I ordered. The author really likes making mead and it seems like he has an interest in sharing his knowledge so you, the brewer is successful.

Not a beginner book
I purchased this book along with another of this author's books, Let There Be Menomels, for my dad who has recently gotten into making mead. Full disclaimer, I have zero experience with mead-making, but can say with utmost certainty that this book is not for newbies. Much like the author's other book, Let There Be Menomels, this book reads like a text book. The info contained within is highly formulaic, which I suppose is to be expected from a recipe book. However, if you're just dipping your toes into mead-making for the first time, you're probably just going to end up being confused if you use this as your guide. I will say, however, unlike Let There Be Menomels, there is some information in the preface about history, flavor notes and troubleshooting you don't get from the sister book. If you're an experienced mead-maker, this book seems to have a pretty good variety of recipes, but if you're new to the mead game, I'd say steer clear of this one until you at least have a few batches under your belt.

Being interested in making my own Mead I've not found a book with enough information and advice until when I came across Big Book of Mead Recipes, just released thankfully. The book gives you the story behind Mead and the equipment needed. Also, it has a lot of recipes to keep the new Mead makers among us and the more proficient Mead makers occupied for a long time to come. I'm already looking forward to making my first batch and trying it out with friends and family. The front cover is attractive and the text inside is clear and easy to follow. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants to make Mead or is just interested in learning more about it.
