Keeps their minds active
I adopted two horses about a year ago with very different personalities from each other. We are working through undoing and redoing a lot of past baggage. They are both mares, one is a 13 yo Quarter Horse, the other is 25 yo Mustang. My QH is very curious, active, playful, and can be a bit of a trouble maker when not given enough space or work. This is the one I truly needed to find a boredom buster for. This "toy" was the ticket. I think of it more like a puzzle and slow feeder. I fill it with hay cubes which seem to be the perfect size to create a good challenge for dispensing. At first (about a week or two) my QH was curious, but the treats didn't come out often enough for her to "get" it. I thought it was a waste. But, after a bit she figured it out and became quite a pro at dispensing the treats. My Mustang is a bit withdrawn and prefers solitude, we adopted her about a year ago and have been working on building her trust in people and the world in general. She is very aware of her environment, but prefers to keep her distance from anything new, not out of fear, but out of a lack of desire to engage. She is slowly coming out of her shell. At first with this toy she did nothing but lick the opening where the treats come out and give up and walk away, but eventually she learned from watching my QH that rolling the toy would dispense the cubes. Now both horses prefer working at rolling the toy for hay cubes rather than grazing their hay. It's funny how much they enjoy working for these food treats even though the treats are just hay cubes and it is a much harder process to get them than their regular hay in slow feeder bags. I find this toy in new locations every morning and reset it in the same spot daily in a location far from their water, hay, or normal resting area to give them various stations to visit throughout the day. I've been utilizing this "entertainment" for them for about a month now and I can tell they are mentally more active as well as physically more calm than they were previously. My QH is not nearly as full of anxious energy and my Mustang is more engaged and social.Horses need a stimulating environment, they are quite intelligent, but in our busy cramped lifestyles it is often impossible for us to give them what they need. This toy is a huge step forward in the pursuit of learning to adapt our care to the needs of the horses we care for, especially for those who don't have acres and acres of land for their horses to enjoy. The toy is built strong and I am confident it will last a long while. Worth the upfront cost in my opinion.

Boredom Buster
This toy is very durable. My very stout - 16'3", 1,500 lbs. TWH gelding usually mashes the ball type rolling feeders within a week. This has lasted for a couple of months without any damage other than minor teeth marks and he gets excited when he sees me drive up with it. We fill it with his daily hay cube ration and it keeps him busy for about an hour. I also really like that the lid is recessed and screws in very securely. It is a large toy and filled with the 4-5 lbs of hay cubes it's a little unwieldy to carry (particularly because it does get pretty dirty from getting rolled around in the paddocks and you can't wash it daily as it takes time to thoroughly dry). I move it with the Mule or a golfcart from the stable to the paddocks. The product Video showed filling it with apples and carrots, but no horse needs that much sugar. Maybe a few baby carrots as jackpot treats thrown in with the forage product for variety or to entice a slow learner or picky eater. I have used this feeder in his stall as well. The only drawback being that he rolls it through all the manure piles, making a huge mess. Overall this is a durable, versatile, and fun product.

Great horse toy-exceeds expectations!
I have seen this toy for a long time. Had I known how big and sturdy it was, I would have ordered it a long time ago. My horse is currently in a stall and run with daily turnout. But, he weaves when he is inside and he does better when he has something to distract him. I have tried several toys in the past. He is only interested in edible toys, but his favorite (Uncle Jimmy's Hangin' Balls) are a fly magnet, so I can't use them in the summer. This seemed like the best alternative.I wasn't sure he would really understand it. I thought he would get frustrated and give up. Since he likes to stand on anything within reach like ground poles, mounting blocks, chairs, etc., I thought he might also try to stand on it and crush it. Luckily, none of these were the case. He figured it out in just a couple of minutes, and it keeps him occupied for quite a while. It is very sturdy, and there is really nothing to stand on because it is round and he can't get a good hoof hold.Even though it works for what I wanted it for, it is not perfect. If you just have a stall, I think it would get messy because the horse will push it through manure. I am very lucky to have a run to put his in so it has stayed relatively clean, except for goobers. Also, it is hard to clean inside. Although I haven't had to clean it out yet, I think it will be hard to scrub it out just because of the odd internal shape. I am planning on taking it to a car wash and just blasting the dirt off with their soap and high pressure water. It works perfectly for what I wanted, and my horse is entertained without having a fly magnet as a toy.

Wish there was another treat hole
This was good but not great. The treats come out on the slow side because there is only one hole. I have to stand with my horse the whole time to encourage her to keep going. She won’t play with it on her own because she loses interest when the treats don’t come out after several rotations of the toy. I was hoping to find something to entertain her without needing me, but unfortunately this is not it. But we still get use out of it and it is quite sturdy.
