Gladiator II [4K UHD + Blu-Ray + Digital]

As an avid DVD/HD/UHD movie collector, I considered this movie to be an excellent addition any comprehensive movie disc collection. This movie in 4k Ultra HD format looks absolutely amazing. This format elevates the viewing experience to a highly immersive level. A 7.1 or a 9.1 surround sound system is also highly recommended for a truly theater like experience. Despite some Gladiator I fans reporting disappointment regarding the Gladiator II sequel, I did not agree with those viewers. Due to CGI advancements, I thought the special effects in the sequel were far more grandiose than those of the original. The simulated chariot races and sea battles depicted in the film were so spectacular and entertaining that this factor alone made this film a must see. This film is also a must have for Ridley Scott fans.

Fairly good movie, surprise ending.

As my title says, as a stand alone movie, and had this been the only Ridley Scott Gladiator film, it would have been a masterpiece, but because we have the first one to compare it to, it falls a bit short is as the story itself isn't quite as strong as the first one. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty good, just not quite as emotionally grabbing as the first. It basically picks up about 15 years after the first one, if memory serves, where the "Maximus" gladiator in this one turns out to be Maximus' son from the first film, and he's now the slave in Gladiator school after being captured in battle. The reveal of this plot point was rather well done, in my opinion. It harkined back to the original film with the same motion that Maximus used in the arena. The action scenes in this film are pretty good, but we've seen similar before in the 300 films, and other Greek/Roman period pieces. So they weren't all that ground breaking. I'll just say this, the film as a whole was pretty good, just not as original as it could have been.

Who doesn’t like Denzel Washington in a movie? This movie is almost as great as the first one with Russell Crowe. It truly is a great movie. Get comfy and bring the popcorn and hang on because this movie is an eye opener.

Love the film. Had it moments. Was very lengthy. It did tie with the original. Good intense & over the top actions.
