They can last a long time, although eventually they get worn through (or they get torn and then have to be trimmed down). So I have started replacing the ones I have. This one is by the front door. It doesn't slip around, and it's such a low pile that the door moves easily. Although the color doesn't match the floors, it coordinates well without calling undue attention to itself. I can wash it in my machine (and it IS a good idea to wash it before you used it, because it will shed at first!). I'm more interested in floor protection than warmth for these rugs, and these rugs work well.
